Laporte wants to join Barcelona

Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte has been on the radar of various clubs in this season due to impressive displays for the Spanish club. However, the French defender has only one club in his mind.

Turns out Laporte is waiting for Barcelona's phone call after all.

It seems that the French International wants a move to La Liga champions Barcelona. He stated that he is in contract with Bilbao but will not rule out a move to the five time Champions league winners.

He also added that Barcelona is the best team in the world but he has not received any call from the Catalan giants.

He is patiently waiting for any response from Barcelona's side but is solely focused on the season ahead with Bilbao. The Bilbao defender has been impressive for the Spanish side and was recently linked with the likes of Manchester United and PSG.

However, he stated that those are just rumors and there is nothing concrete with respect to those links.

Barcelona has been looking out for a defender and they may look at the French defender as an option considering the experience of Laporte in La Liga. The Spanish side can use Laporte on the left hand side of the defence in order to complement Pique.

Manchester United want to make a move for Laporte

Apparently, Manchester United want to make a key investment in their defensive department. The Premier League giants are very much keen in strengthening their defence in the summer.

United are considering a move for Athletic's Aymeric Laporte as their planning for next season.

It seems that the club has identified Athletic Bilbao centre back Aymeric Laporte as a prime candidate to add the much needed stability to their defence. Currently, the left hand side of the defence is occupied by Daley Blind, who has struggled at times due to his lack of pace. As a result, the United management is very much keen on the left footed Laporte.

However, the key hindrance to the deal would be the transfer fee. It seems that the defender has a release clause of around £32 million. This may deter the Old Trafford outfit from signing the Frenchman. United have also identified John Stones and Raphael Varane as potential candidates, in case they are not able to get Laporte.

It is very much clear that the United management are on the look out of young promising center backs in order to accompany the equally young Smalling in defence. John Stones has also been valued at around £40 million and Varane will also not come for cheap for the Premier league club. Hence, it is a good possibility that young Laporte may be the most viable option for the club.
