According to some reports, Nainggolan is set to be the first signing of Antonio Conte’s Chelsea reign.

Chelsea are closing in on the £31million signing of Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan.
The Premier league champions have endured a very difficult season in this campaign and it seems that Conte wants to strengthen the midfield department for next season.

The 27 year old has been a long term target for the Blues and it has been reported that the Belgian International has agreed a deal of around 5 years with the Premier League champions. Nainggolan has been highly regarded by Conte and has been tracked by various European clubs.

The Belgian International has been known for his combative nature in midfield and it seems the Pensioners have been successful in capturing his move. The addition of Nainggolan would certainly provide the much needed steel in the midfield department, something which has been deeply missing in this campaign.

Roma Sporting director Walter Sabatini has stated that he has not heard of any information with respect to the signing of Nainggolan and has termed the Belgian midfielder as a Universal midfielder. However, there have been reports that been suggesting that Nainggolan to Chelsea is a done deal.

Earlier in the campaign it was reported that Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri had thought of signing Francesco Totti after his contract expires at Roma.

Roma's Francesco Totti is set to snub Leicester and make a sensational switch to MLS side New York Cosmos.
Ranieri believed that the addition of Totti next season would provide the required experience for the Foxes in the Champions league.

However, it seems the Roma legend has other ideas. It has been reported that Totti prefers a move to to the United States and has been in contact with New York Cosmos. Hence, the possibility of the Roma legend signing for Leicester looks very slim.

The contract of Totti expires this season and manager Luciano Spalletti has not shown any inclination of extending the deal. As a result, the possibility of Totti ending his 24 year old association with Roma looks very likely.

Ranieri was hoping to give Totti a one year deal at Leicester but it seems the association wont work out since Totti prefers a move to the United States and to participate in the North American Soccer League.

It seems West Ham are very much tracking the developments of Roma striker Edin Dzeko.

West Ham eyeing Roma striker Edin Dzeko
Dzeko has failed to hit top gear for the Italian club and may leave in the summer. The former Manchester City has not been that consistent for Roma, something he had done more often than not in his time at the Etihad.

West Ham are very much looking to buy a top striker, With the 30 year old having already known the Premier league with his stint with Manchester City, the Hammers have looked at him as a potential candidate to boost their attacking department.

Apparently it has been reported that Dzeko may move out of Roma this summer because of the discontent among the supporters. Dzeko has never really lived up to the hype surrounding his signing and it seems the supporters have also turned against him.

With West Ham looking like a club on the up, it would certainly be an enticing proposition for the former Wolfsburg striker.

It seems Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will return back to his parent club after his loan spell in Italy.

Wojciech Szczesny Set For Arsenal Return
Roma have decided that they would not purchase the Polish International and would allow the goalkeeper to return back to England. Earlier in the campaign, Szczesny had stated that he was happy at the club and would like to stay there for the foreseeable future.

However, it seems that the Italian club believe that they can find better options than Szczesny and are ready to let go off the goalkeeper. Szczesny, who joined Arsenal in 2006, would obviously realize that his future may not be at his parent north London club with Cech, the obvious number one and Ospina, proving to be a more than capable number two.

Szczesny has been impressive for Roma in this campaign; a feeling backed by the club as well, but the club is not ready to shell out around £11 million for the goalkeeper.

The Polish International, however, may have some hope with respect to his Arsenal future, after Cech's performance against Crystal Palace in the club's last Premier League game.

It seems Roma are interested in signing Chelsea center back Branislav Ivanovic. The Serbian has been a mainstay in the Chelsea defence for around seven years and his versatility has been a big boon for the London club.

Branislav Ivanovic tempted by Roma move after Chelsea hold talks with Serie A
It is this versatility that has lured Roma to bring the Serbian International to Italy. Ivanovic can play at both right back and centre back positions. Apparently according to certain reports, Roma have asked the Premier league champions about the price with respect to the sale of their Serbian defender.

Ivanovic endured a torrid start to this campaign and was severely criticized for his performances at the start of the season. Ivanovic, who has been a reliable right back over the years for the West London club, has picked up his form like several other Chelsea players under Hiddink.

However, the fact that Ivanovic is currently past thirty and is interested in a move to Italy may persuade Chelsea to sell the defender. Incoming manager Conte would then have to find out the perfect replacement for the Serbian, who will certainly leave a huge hole if he departs.

It has been reported that Roma and Chelsea officials met a few days back with respect to this transfer.

Antonio Conte may be taking over the reigns at Chelsea after the Euros but it seems that the Italian manager is already making his moves with respect to the next season.

There are reports stating that the current Italy national team manager is in contact with the agent of Roma defender Manolas. Manolas has been impressive for Roma after joining the Italian club in 2014.

Conte allegedly meets with Manolas' agent ahead of joining up with Chelsea
Conte wants to improve the defensive department of Chelsea and has identified Manolas as one of his key targets. It was earlier reported that Conte was very much interested in bringing Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci to London but it seems a recent injury to the defender has made Conte look for other options.

However, Manolas has also been tracked by Chelsea's London rivals Arsenal and it seems that the Italian wants his agent to consider the move to West London rather than North London.

The signing of Manolas can be the end of John Terry's spell, at the club, who was asked to wait with respect to a new contract, after the arrival of the new manager.

A year ago, the fact that Totti is being linked with Leicester City would be considered as a very bad joke. However, with the Foxes very much on their way to next season's Champions league, the rumor does not sound that funny anymore.

Leicester City continue to be linked with a summer move for Roma legend, Francesco Totti.
It seems Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri is very much interested in bringing his former player to the King Power stadium. The future of Totti at Roma is currently unsettled and there are reports that the former Italian International would leave the club for the MLS.

However, Ranieri is interested in bringing the Roma legend to Leicester since the Italian believes the presence of Totti can be very vital for their Champions league campaign next season. Leicester City are currently leading the premier league table by five points and although, the title is far from won, a spot in next seasons Champions league looks very much secured.

The presence of Totti would certainly be a huge boost to Leicester City, who may most probably make their maiden Champions league appearance next season.

Alessandro Florenzi earned Roma a point in yesterday's clash against Barcelona by scoring a screamer from about 60 metres away from the goal. Here we look at a short profile of the right winger and also analyze his strengths and weaknesses.

Alessandro Florenzi
A product of Roma's youth system, he is a favourite among fans after having made the step up to the first team and the fans will be hoping that he can go on to be like club greats Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi.

Florenzi made his debut against Sampdoria in the 2010/11 season but that was the only time he played for Roma that season. He was sent out on loan to Serie B side Crotone the following season in a bid to gain some match experience. The youngster took the opportunity by both hands and impressed his new employers, scoring 11 goals in that season.

Florenzi was recalled to Roma and he played as a central midfielder in his early days. But with the departure of Erik Lamela in 2013, he was made to play more frequently on the right wing. He continues to play as a right winger or as a right back today. His stock has constantly been on the rise since his return to Roma and it also earned him a call up for Italy's national side for a friendly match against France.

Florenzi had a breakthrough campaign in 2013/14, playing in 36 of the 38 league games for Roma that season and also guiding them to a second placed finish. He cemented his place in the team and has been a mainstay ever since. He has scored a few stunning goals in his career but nothing like the one he scored yesterday.

Florenzi's main strength is his versatility in the fact that he can play as a central midfielder, right winger or as a right back. He is still not a finished product and probably as a result of being moved around different positions, he doesn't have any particular skill that can be highlighted. He is a very tactically intelligent player. He also has a very good engine and stamina required to play in the full back role. He has often been praised for his hard working nature.

Florenzi has all the makings to be a Roma great but he will need to make that step up to the next level. Being a home grown player, he will have support from his fans and he will need to show loyalty and passion back to the club which defined legends like Totti and De Rossi.

Roma held Barcelona to 1-1 draw to earn a vital point in their Champions league opener. Suarez gave Barca the lead but Florenzi scored one back before half time to level the scores.

Alessandro Florenzi scored a stunning goal from midfield last night against FC Barcelona
Barcelona dominated possession as expected and it was always going to be a tough night for Roma's defenders. It was Suarez who opened the scoring as he, standing unmarked at the far post, headed in Rakitic's cross in the 21st minute.

There was controversy surrounding the Uruguayan as there were claims for diving when Suarez went down too easily after a challenge by Szczesny.

It was then Alessandro Florenzi who produced the moment of the game. Surging through the right flank, the midfielder ran from his own half past the half way line, looked up to see ter Stegen caught out of position, and lobbed past the keeper from around 50 metres away from the goal.

Szczesny made another smart save to deny Suarez and got hurt in the process, injuring his arm colliding with the striker. The Pole was then replaced by Morgan De Sanctis in goal.

There were then claims for a penalty when Naingollan was fouled inside the penalty area. Barcelona were pushing to look for a winner but Roma defence stood strong.

Lionel Messi was stifled for most part of the game but the Argentine had his moment when he clipped the ball above the substitute goalkeeper only to be denied by the crossbar.

Barcelona will not be too concerned with the result as they have still matches left to reach the top spot. It will be a morale boosting win for the Italian side though and they will look to capitalize on this in their future games.

Here are 10 stats from this week's UCL games:

*Eden Hazard missed a chance to open the scoring from the spot for Chelsea against Maccabi Tel Aviv. This made him only the fourth player to have missed three or more penalties in the Champions league since 2006/07. The other three players to have done so are Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

Lionel Messi
*After appearing for Barcelona against Roma, Lionel Messi became the youngest player in UCL history to have played in 100 games.

*Despite losing against Dinamo Zagreb, Arsenal have won 76 times in the Champions league -  the most by a team that has not won the competition.

*Dinamo Zagreb's win was also their first win in the competition since September 1999.

*Since his debut in 2004, only Xavi (24)  and Cristiano Ronaldo (23) have registered more assists than Cesc Fabregas (22).

*Roma's defence was excellent against Barcelona. This game was the one in which Barcelona had least shots on target (3) this season.

*Diego Costa scored his first Champions League goal for Chelsea. It was his first goal in the competition since last scoring for Atletico Madrid against Chelsea.

*Theo Walcott became the sixth Arsenal player to have scored 10 or more goals for the club.

*Arsenal's defence was shaky today and this game meant that the Gunners have just kept one clean sheet in their last 11 Champions league away group games.

*Messi's stats in the UCL after his 100 games - 77 goals, 22 assists , 4 trophy wins.

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is up against a club he has previously managed as the Spanish club faces AS Roma on Wednesday. The match is also a meaningful one for Lionel Messi as he is set to make his 100th Champions league appearance.

As Roma Vs Barcelona
Roma have been handed a tough group in this year's draw with the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and BATE Borisov. A point in this fixture could be decisive at the end of the group stages when there is surely going to be some competition for the second placed spot of the group. Roma has been in good form domestically so far but will need better performances if they are to get anything out of this game.

Roma will be without the injured Miralem Pjanic and Radja Naingollan will most probably replace him. Roma will be looking to Wojciech Szczesny to repeat the performance he gave when he beat Barcelona with Arsenal 4 years back. They will also need Mohammad Salah and Daniele De Rossi to be at their best if they are to get anything from the game.

Barca are everyone's favorite to top the group. But they have a poor record on Italian soil with just one win in their last six games. They know that this game won't be a cakewalk and would be wary to avoid any slip ups.

Barcelona will be without Claudio Bravo, Thomas Vermaelen and Dani Alves. Champions league all time topscorer, Messi will return to the starting XI after being dropped to the bench for their last game. Pique will also return to the team after missing the last league game through suspension.

Barcelona are the clear favorites here. Roma's defence hasn't been at their best and there is every chance that this Barca side may put atleast two goals past them. Much will depend on what happens at the other end of the pitch. If Roma can produce some good counter attacks or play some good set pieces, then the tie can get interesting.

Predicted score : AS Roma 1 - 2 Barcelona

Miralem Pjanić
AS Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic will reportedly be out for three weeks and will miss Roma's highly anticipated UEFA Champions League game against FC Barcelona on September 16.

The 25-year-old limped off the pitch in Bosnia's Euro 2016 qualifier game against Andorra on Sunday and after close inspection, the medics confirmed that he has suffered a first degree muscle strain on his right calf.

Pjanic, is also expected to miss three Serie-A games against Frosinone, Sassuolo and Fiorentina.

The medics expect the former Lyon midfielder to return to action in the Roman' league fixture against Carpi on 26th December.

Roma meanwhile are believed to be agitated with the Bosnian FA, as the player felt pain in Bosnia's previous qualifier game against Belgium.

This will be the first time Pjanic misses three consecutive games for Roma since September 2012.

Martin Odegaard during a training session for Norway [Photo Credits: Telegraph]
According to Daily Express, Roma have also joined the race to sign Norwegian starlet and Manchester United target Martin Odegaard.

Manchester United are believed to be leading the race for the youngster's signature but will face significant competition from the Italian club as well as the likes of Ajax, Liverpool and Real Madrid.

The 15-year-old plays his club football for the Tippeligaen side Stromsgodset made his first-team appearance earlier this year. He has developed a very good reputation for himself over recent months and is being tracked by several big European clubs. He has already scored 3 goals in 18 appearances fto put the club within two-points of a European qualifying position.

Odegaard made history in August when he made his senior debut during a friendly game for Norway against United Arab Emirates. He is now the youngest player ever to represent Norway at international level.

The Norwegian is also called 'the next Messi' by various media.

Odegaard is a Liverpool supporter and Brendan Rodgers would surely be delighted to hear that. This could make the player opt to make the switch to Anfield, if offered.
