Manchester United left back Luke Shaw is expected to have a second operation on his broken leg on Friday.

The 20 year old was taken to St Anna Ziekenheus hospital on Tuesday night after he was injured in United's match against PSV. The youngster broke his tibia and fibula after suffering an aggressive challenge from PSV defender Hector Moreno.

An operation was conducted on his leg on the night of the match and a further surgrey was done on Friday which was completed succesfully. United has not yet released a statement about the extent of the injury but it is rumoured that Shaw will be out for at least six months and could miss the season for Manchester United.

Luke Shaw was the only Manchester United player to have played all minutes for club and country this season and it looked like the youngster was about to have his break through campaign this year. Hector Moreno's trailing leg struck Shaw dangerously when the PSV defender slided in aggressively to stop the left back's marauding run. Moreno wasn't sent off and went on to score at the other end was on the receiving end of the irk of many United fans.

Shaw will remain in the hospital at Eindhoven until he is fit to travel back to England. His family is with him reportedly, and Manchester United vice-Chairman, Ed Woodward, visited him yesterday. He also received get well soon messages from a lot of footballers around the world.

Memphis Depay must have been waiting for this day ever since the Champions league groups were announced. He is finally getting the chance to go back to his former club and he will surely want to make the occasion memorable by scoring in the game.

PSV Eindhoven vs. Manchester United

PSV knows that even though they are underdogs going into this game, there is a chance that they can walk away with something. Even after losing Memphis to Manchester United on Tuesday, the Dutch side has scored 14 goals in 5 games so far this season. They currently sit 4th on the Eredivisie table with 11 points from a possible 15. PSV manager Philip Cocu, who once played under Louis Van Gaal for Barcelona would certainly be looking forward to this challenge.

Dutch forward Luuk De Jong is PSV's biggest asset and has recently score a fine hattrick in their last game against Cambuur. Manchester United would also want to keep an eye on winger Luciano Narsingh. His pace and dribbling skills could cause the United fullbacks some problems but with Darmian and Luke Shaw in fine form, they should be able to keep him quiet.

Manchester United fans will be pleased to see their team back and playing in the group stages of UCL after missing last year's campaign. Last week's 3-1 win over rivals Liverpool must have given United a lot of confidence as Van Gaal prepares to face a dutch opposition with Manchester United for the first time. Manchester United has been impressive in the League so far with their defence being particularly impressive.


Their main concern though will be the absence of Wayne Rooney. Teenager Antony Martial marked his debut with a well taken goal last week but Van Gaal may stick with Fellaini to lead the line for United. Memphis may have to start the game he has been waiting for on the bench after Ashley Young put on an impressive display after coming on as a sub for him at half time. The new signings have settled in well and there finally seems to be a sense of optimism around the club.

Manchester United will prove to be too strong for PSV ultimately. The English side has been impressive lately and with the quality of players they have, they will ultimately outfight PSV and take all the 3 points back home.

Prediction : PSV Eindhoven 0 - 2 Manchester United

According to the  Italian national sports newspaper 'Corriere dello Sport', Juventus are desperate to bring in a new forward before the transfer window closes and have turned their attentions to Dutchman Memphis Depay.

Depay in action for Netherlands.

 This means than Manchester United will have to face a late challenge from Juventus in the race to land Memphis Depay. Tottenham are also believed to be interested in signing the PSV player.

This news could worry United, who are yet to match the demands of the Eredivisie club.

The left winger emerged as one of his first targets during Louis van Gaal's tenure at Old Trafford after he managed Depay during the World Cup.

Depay's contract at PSV will run until 2017 but sources in Holland have claimed he is open to a move to one of Europe's biggest clubs.

With an impressive World Cup campaign followed with four goals in the opening two Eredivisie games this term, the 20-years-old has done his best for the clubs to want him to play for their team.

Depay is believed to cost around £10 million.
