It was reported earlier that former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was poised to become the next Manchester United manager in the next season.

Manchester United have asked Jose Mourinho to replace Van Gaal as manager, in the summer of 2017.
However, according to some sources, it has been stated that United executive vice-chairman Woodward has asked the Portuguese manager to wait for another year in order to bag the United job.

One of the major reasons for this decision is the fact that Woodward is reluctant to sack current United manager Louis Van Gaal who still has a year left on the contract he signed in 2014. It has been stated that is because Woodward feels that it would mean that he made a mistake in appointing the Dutchman in the first place.

With Mourinho very much interested in coming back to management in this summer itself, it seems that the former Real Madrid has refused the offer put forth by Woodward and is not ready to wait for another year having come this close.

Mourinho has also been linked with a move to PSG in the past few weeks and it can be a possibility that the Portuguese manager may choose to move to France given the current developments.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has stated that the best managers he played under are Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger.

Cesc Fábregas noted José Mourinho and Arsene Wenger as his favorite coaches
Fabregas played under Wenger at Arsenal since he was 16 before leaving the club in 2011. The former Barcelona midfielder stated that Wenger was more important because he gave him the opportunity to show what he can do at the tender age of 16.

On the other hand, Fabregas praised Mourinho because he believed the former Chelsea manager gave him the belief he was lacking when he signed for the Blues in 2014. The Spanish midfielder endured a lukewarm final season in his three year spell at the Nou Camp before returning back to the Premier league.

Fabregas was disappointed with the way he could not win the Premier league title with Arsenal. Hence, the fact that he won the Premier league in his first season back to England under Mourinho in 2015 made him grateful to the Portuguese manager even more.

The former Arsenal midfielder also played under the likes of Pep Guardiola, Tito Vilanova and Tata Martino at Barcelona.

It seems former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is not deprived of options when it comes to be appointed as manager of a new club, not that there was any doubt with respect to that.

PSG in talks with José Mourinho's representatives but no offer made yet
Apparently, French champions PSG are very much interested in appointing the Portuguese as their manager for next season. PSG were knocked out in the quarterfinals of the Champions league by Manchester City and it seems the owners were very disappointed by the same.

They desperately want the club to be considered as a major force to be reckoned with in European football. However, Laurent Blanc has failed to take the club beyond the quarterfinals of the most elite European club competition.

The management wants Mourinho because of his success in the Champions league having won it twice, with Porto and Inter Milan. Although the former Real Madrid manager is very much linked with the job at Manchester United, Mourinho would consider this job if the United one fails to materialize.

Although the Portuguese wants to stay in England, Mourinho certainly regards PSG as one of the biggest clubs in Europe and is inclined towards the job if United do not consider him.

Reports in Spain have suggested that Jose Mourinho has finally signed a pre-contract agreement, making him the new United manager next season. Spanish newspaper El Pais have claimed that Mourinho has given the green light to replacing Louis van Gaal at the end of this season.

Mourinho has reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement to join United
According to this alleged agreement, if the deal for the Portuguese maestro isn’t finalized by May 1, United will owe him a staggering £5m. Furthermore, if the deal still doesn’t happen by June 1, they’ll have to add another £10m to that. In case this deal doesn’t go through, United have identified Mauricio Pochettino, Ryan Giggs or Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel as possible alternatives, given the inevitability of Van Gaal’s departure from the club.

Real Madrid had considered bringing Mourinho back to the Bernabeu earlier and had contacted Jorge Mendes regarding the Portuguese’s whereabouts. But Mendes denied their approach because Mourinho was hesitant to return to the Spanish capital and also because an agreement had been made with United in February.

But Real Madrid weren’t the only ones interested. Inter Milan were interested too. Mourinho and chief lieutenant Rui Faria had agreed to meet Inter co-owner Massimo Moratti last month. But amidst strong United speculations, Inter gave up the chase. An Inter Milan director confirmed last month that Mourinho was ready to take the United job.

If this deal happens, the next season is shaping up to be an absolute belter. With the likes of Guardiola, Mourinho, Klopp, Wenger and Conte ready to take their clubs to glory. Can we just give Leicester the title and start the next season already?

Mourinho and Manchester United has been a long case of flirting ever since the former's exit from Stamford Bridge. To add to that, United hasn't been in the best of form for a few months now and Louis Van Gaal's exit became imminent after a humiliating defeat last month against FC Midtjylland.

Mourinho's move to Manchester United hinges on one important decision
But reports by the Mirror today said that the favorite to land LVG's job, Mourinho's fate depends on the trial between him and former Chelsea physician Eva Caneiro. After an outburst against her on the opening day of the season against Swansea at the Bridge, Mourinho fired her from her job after which she came back at him with a suit of constructive dismissal.

Chelsea and Eva Caneiro held a private hearing to settle the case, but when asked whether the parties had reached a settlement, Eva shook her head. Her lawyers didn't comment on the matter. This means that a public hearing is very plausible and since texts and emails can be used as evidence against the Portuguese, it could put his dream job under threat.

A few United directors are said to be unconvinced about Mourinho's off-field antics and dealings with officials and a public employment tribunal would not help his cause. Also with the case likely to drag on till June, United would want to hold off his employment till the matter is settled. Will this case impede Mourinho's progress towards his dream job?

It seems Manchester United legend David Beckham wants Jose Mourinho to remain as manager in the Premier league. The flamboyant football star has urged Mourinho to stay in England.

David Beckham backs Jose Mourinho for Premier League job
The controversial Portuguese manager was sacked by Chelsea earlier in the season after the Premier League champions endured a torrid start to the season. It was reported that there were rifts within the squad, with the management of Mourinho not being liked by some of the senior players.

Mourinho was also involved in an infamous row with the then Chelsea doctor Eva Carneiro at the start of the season. However, the former Real Madrid midfielder has a different view about it. He believes Mourinho should stay in the Premier league.

The former Real Madrid manager has been very heavily linked with Manchester United after the recent dire performances from the Red Devils.

It is widely reported that the two time Champions league winner would be the one who would replace Louis Van Gaal as the next United manager. Beckham is one of the many who believe it is the right choice adding that a character like him is very much needed in the Premier League.

It seems that reports of Mourinho heading to Manchester United just keep getting stronger by the day. Currently out of work Mourinho is the favorite to replace existing United manager LVG after an unimpressive campaign this season.

José Mourinho will reportedly join Manchester United on a three-year contract & he will earn €20m-a-season.
It seems that Mourinho has told his close friends that he will be the next manager of Manchester United and will be back into management sooner rather than later. Earlier this week, there were reports suggesting Mourinho may replace Tuchel as the next Borussia Dortmund boss. However, those reports were laughed off by Tuchel stating that their CEO had just invited Mourinho for the game.

Sources state that the deal between the Portuguese manager and United is almost completed. Mourinho has stated his desire to be in England and with the performance of United not getting any better at least in terms of results, it seems that the former Chelsea manager may return back to management by taking over the United job.

Apart from Mourinho, the only other possible candidate would be Ryan Giggs. But according to reports, the United management may not be too keen to give the job, in this period of transition, to a rookie. It is believed that Giggs may continue in the same role under Mourinho.

Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea earlier this season and if reports are to believed, it seems that the Guardiola and Mourinho rivalry would be back next season with the former Barcelona manager set to take over the Manchester City job.

The news of Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane being the new head coach of the Galacticos was certainly received with a sense of optimism among the Madrid faithful. There was this belief that Madrid opted to go the Barcelona way by giving their club legend a good experience of coaching their B team before giving a huge opportunity to coach the first team.

Jose Mourinho and Zinedine Zidane
However, there are reports stating that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez initially offered the job to former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. Mourinho may have fallen apart from his Madrid team before joining Chelsea in 2013 along with certain sections of the Madrid fans but he was always highly regarded by the top management at Real Madrid.

One of the other major reasons for such a move was also the fact that Zidane may not be ready for such a top job, with the French legend only having the experience of coaching Madrid's B team prior to this appointment. However, the surprise is that there are reports stating that Mourinho wants to coach in the premier league itself and if that rumor is true there would certainly be no problem in guessing the club that the Portuguese manager has his eyes on.

The return of Mourinho to Madrid may have been complicated given the history between the manager and the club. However, as far as Madrid fans are concerned, they would certainly hope that their new boss would be able to replicate what a certain Guardiola did for their arch rivals Barcelona.

Jose Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes has cleared the air about speculations of the former Chelsea boss succeeding Louis Van Gaal at Old Tradford. Mendes said that the Manchester team have not made an approach for acquiring the services of 'The special one' as their head coach.

Jose Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes says there has been no approach from Manchester United.
Van Gaal has came under a lot of scrutiny for the 'boring' performances from the Red Devils. The scenario has intensified with United losing last two Premier League matches after crashing out of the Champions League. Van Gaal himself expressed his worry for his job, after his Chelsea counterpart was sacked.

Since Mourinho parted his company with the London club, rumours have been at peak of him replacing LVG. But the agent has revealed that initiative for such an action has not happened.

"There is nothing. We don't know what will happen in the future, but now there is no agreement. There isn't an official proposal either, that's not true." Jorge Mendes said.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be in his home country, spending time with family. Meanwhile, Guus Hiddink has taken over the managerial role at Chelsea.

The former Chelsea coach has questioned the commitment and passion of some of the Chelsea players. He also said that those players should be infinitely passionate about the game, if they want to be remembered as footballers.

Jose Mourinho
The Portuguese was sacked by Chelsea FC on Thursday after a string of dismal performance this season, losing nine league games, and lingering on the 16th position.

However, Mourinho spoke to Chelsea TV that some of his players had let him and Chelsea down with their sluggish and insipid game. But he declined to reveal the names of those players. He then accused these players of demolishing the whole chemistry of the Chelsea team.

He did not forget to praise the efforts of some other players and backroom staff who have given everything, whenever needed.

"Some are giving everything, while some others are ruining it", he said.

Jose Mourinho joined Chelsea for second spell, in 2013 and won a league title and Capitol one cup in the 2014-15 season.

In the biggest news of the footballing world, Chelsea have sacked Jose Mourinho, the most successful manager in their history, for the second time.

Chelsea sack Jose Mourinho
The fact that their season went from bad to worse after two back to back defeats in the premier league surely made Abramovich to take due course of action. Chelsea are currently just one point above the relegation zone with the only silver lining being their qualification to the knock out stages of the Champions League.

It certainly was not surprising, given the club was in such a big disarray. However, the signing of a new four year contract at the end of last season, a lack of a top class manager as a backup and a huge pay off gave a feeling that Abramovich may at least wait till the end of the season to make a decision.

Although not all Chelsea fans would be happy with the decision, unlike in other cases, Mourinho was certainly given enough time to change the fortunes of the team. Perhaps, the reports of unhappiness within the squad may have forced the hand for the owner. The most recent report of Mourinho feeling betrayed by some of his players just compounded the existing problems.

The club has officially released a statement thanking Mourinho for his wonderful job at the club and has been emphasizing the fact that the manager left on good terms. Chelsea have delayed further comments until the decision is made on their new manager. There are reports of Guardiola, former Tottenham manager Juande Ramos, Diego Simeone and former Chelsea manager Ancelotti being considered for the job.

However, Dutch manager Guus Hiddink is the favorite to rejoin the club he formerly managed in 2009 due to his close association with the owner and his previous exploits with the club in which he led them to a famous FA cup victory.

The fact that Jose Mourinho is one of the best managers in the world is undisputed. Couple of seasons ago, the Chelsea manager branded Arsene Wenger as a specialist in failure due to his lack of trophies for around 9 years.

Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho
Wenger has won two FA cups since whereas Mourinho has won the league title and League Cup. Hence, in terms of trophies in the last two years, failure cannot be termed to both of them.

The barren run without a trophy did make Wenger a laughing stock for many years. However, one should not forget the difficulties Arsenal were in after their move to a new stadium. In the initial years, the club had to reduce their expenditures, which affected their supremacy in the league. However, Wenger made sure the club still finished in top four and maintained their Champions League status.

Injury crisis has been like a perennial event for the club. but Wenger has been able to come out of it as a winner more often than not. In terms of recent decisions that have been huge hits, the case of Coquelin and Bellerin can be taken as prime examples. The manager may not have the killer instinct now in terms of winning league titles, but he sure knows how to get out of a difficult situation.

Mourinho on the other hand has always thrived when the club is in a good state. This is not to undermine the achievement of the manager but to just emphasize the fact that in terms of coming out of difficult situations, he has not provided enough evidence. A club in disarray has continued to be one under Mourinho. He was unhappy with respect to signings in his first spell at Chelsea.

The problems he faced at Real Madrid are all too well known. He did not stay there for a long time to fix the issue. There is a clear observation that Mourinho is the best man for short term success. The recent malaise at Chelsea proves that notion just about right. The current problems at the club just keep growing every week. Once a problem occurs at any of his clubs, he has not been able to fix it.

One of the biggest problems facing the owner would be the relationship between the manager and the players. Mourinho wants to stay but if the players do not play for the manager, it is always easier for the owner to sack the manager rather than sell all his players. Mourinho was supposed to be Chelsea's Fergie but it turns out, he still lacks that skill for longevity.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fàbregas has urged his under-performing teammates to improve their performances and pay dividends for their high salaries they receive.

Fabregas has criticised the attitude & behaviour of the Chelsea players
Fabregas also expressed his frustration of his team having a very bad season. The reigning Premier League champions had a bad start to defending the Premier League title, and Fabregas is hoping for a turnaround to Chelsea’s current form.

The Spaniard spoke about the responsibilities and discipline that every player in the team should replicate.

“If you are a big player and are paid like a big player, you have to perform and behave like a big player”, Cesc explained his sadness over the bad league campaign.

"As a player, you have pride. Ok, we cannot win right now the Premier League, but come on. We all have to do better.”

He also told about the great work Jose Mourinho is doing for a revival. Chelsea are currently 16th in the league table, with only 15 points from 16 games.

Cesc Fabregas, himself has come under stick for his string of poor performances.

Leicester City returned to the top of the Barclays Premier League table after securing a hard fought victory against the defending champions Chelsea at the King Power Stadium on Monday.

Chelsea FC now sit in 16th place of the EPL table with only 15 points so far this season
Leicester City were looking to make a statement early in the match and eventually they got the breakthrough in the 34th minute, when their talisman Jamie Vardy converted Riyad Mahrez’s cross from close range and increased his goal tally to 15.

Claudio Ranieri’s men were looking more comfortable and outplayed the defending champions. Foxes extended their lead in the 48th minute when Riyadh Mahrez curled the ball into the top corner of the net from Marc Albrighton's cross. Chelsea’s defence was caught red handed and it looked like there was no turnaround for the London side.

Mourinho’s men had some brilliant chances with both Costa and Ivanovic failed to find the back of the net from close range. Chelsea pulled one back in the 77th minute when Loic Remy headed the ball past Schmeichel. But the defending champions lacked the composure to find the equalizer in the dying minutes and dropped on to 16th position in the table.

Tottenham's unbeaten run since the first week defeat to Manchester United at the start of the season will be tested when they host their London rivals Chelsea on Sunday.

Tottenham vs Chelsea
Team News:

Dele Alli will be missing the London derby due to suspension and his England counter-part Ryan Mason will be taking his place in the starting line-up. Pochettino confirmed that Algerian midfielder Nabil Bentaleb will be missing the fixture due to the ankle injury, which has kept him out since September. Midfielders Nacer Chadli and Alex Pritchard still remain on the sidelines.

Chelsea’s manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that John Terry and Ramires remain doubtful for the London derby. Kurt Zouma will be partnering with Gary Cahill in the central defense. Belgian shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois has returned to full training after missing two months of action due to foot injury, but he is still not in a contention to play the derby.

Probable line-ups:

Tottenham Hotspurs:

Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dier, Dembele, Son, Eriksen, Mason, Kane

Chelsea:

Begovic, Ivanovic, Zouma, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Fabregas, Matic; Willian,
Pedro, Hazard, Costa.

Predicted scoreline:

Tottenham 1 – 2 Chelsea

It is not usual to see the champions of a league languishing at the bottom half of the table in the next season itself.

By the month of November, the standings in the table give you a fair idea where the teams are more or less going to finish at the end of the season. However, this season shows up the biggest surprise with Chelsea placed at 16th and Leicester City occupying one of the top four places.

Jose Mourinho
Much of the blame has been placed on Mourinho and rightly so. Mourinho is the first one to congratulate himself when his team succeeds. Hence, when Chelsea are going through such a rough patch like in this season, it is only understandable that he gets most of the criticism.

The fact that Chelsea won the title last year by a huge margin should not overshadow the fact that they were fading away towards the end of last season. Ironically, it was Hazard who is arguably their worst performer this season that carried them through till the end.

It is understandable that the manager can do little when most of his biggest stars stop performing largely due to lack of motivation or fatigue. In the current era of football, however, top managers are paid handsomely to actually handle such issues.

One way to look at this would be that the seeds of this catastrophic season were sown last year itself. The Premier league is physically challenging and when you add the fact that Mourinho preferred a smaller squad of players last season, we can imagine the stress and physical drain that the players might have endured.

Apart from that, the Premier league calendar this year was quite congested. The league ended late last season compared to other seasons and started early this season. Although it can argued it is the same for all teams, not all teams had to play with a comparatively smaller squad with the added pressure of a title race the previous season.

The Premier league can be a tough nut to crack when the energy levels drop even by a small margin. The fatigue coupled with the lack of motivation and the increase in quality of the league may partly justify the current scenario. However, Mourinho should be blamed for the lack of signings and failing to provide that much needed freshness to the squad.

It is important that Chelsea get their act together immediately after the international break or they may have to see their most successful manager sacked once again with another former manager waiting on the wings.

Chelsea’s horrific season continued as they lost again this weekend, to Stoke City. Stoke's Arnautovic contributed with the solitary goal in the match.

Jose Mourinho
While Chelsea seem to have improved their performance, it was far from convincing. Key players such as Fabregas and Costa still failed to be productive as Stoke City thwarted most of the Chelsea attacks with relative ease. It resulted in the 3rd straight league defeat for Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea and left them 16th in the table.

Arnautovic, who scored the winner, was termed as “Unmanageable” by Jose Mourinho during his time at Inter. However, the player had the last laugh as he inflicted another defeat on the defending champions, who just can’t seem to find a way out of this rut. Handed a one game stadium ban for berating the match referee in the earlier match, Jose Mourinho watched his side pummel to a new low from a nearby hotel room.

Despite the reports that Mourinho could be sacked for leading Chelsea to their worst ever league start, his job seems to be safe for now. However, he has a mountain to climb now with the title far away from his reach. If Chelsea were to reach European places, they have to go on a long winning streak soon.

West Ham beat Chelsea 2-1 on Saturday as Nemanja Matic and Mourinho were sent off. This was Chelsea's fifth league loss of the season and they have now dropped to fifteenth spot in the table.

Jose Mourinho
There was a lot of controversy in the match and Mourinho refused to speak to the media at the end of the game.

Chelsea started the game slowly and were soon pegged back by a Zarate strike from a West Ham corner. Chelsea soon got a corner of their own and Fabregas' flighted delivery was headed to the goal by Kurt Zouma. But the defender's header was cleared off the line by Manuel Lanzini and the replays showed that the ball was just millimeters away from going in.

Chelsea pushed for an equalizer and they thought they had gotten one when Fabregas struck a strong effort past Adrian from a counter attack only to be ruled offside. It was a very close call as the Spanish midfielder had most of his body behind the last defender when he received the pass.

The controversy began in the 44th minute when Nemanja Matic was sent off for a second bookable offence. John Terry and Cesc Fabregas protested against the decision and earned a yellow card each for themselves. The Chelsea coaching staff was less than impressed with the refereeing and Chelsea assistant coach Silvino Lauro was also sent to the stands for his protests.

Mourinho didn't appear on the touchline after the break and news spread out later that the Portugese too had been sent off in bizarre circumstances. The Portugese had to watch from the stands as his team then leveled through Gary Cahill from a corner kick. But Mourinho was not at all happy even after his team scored as was evident from his face.

But the 10 men in blues couldn't hold out for a draw as West Ham's substitute Andy Carroll headed home a goal in the 79th minute from an Aaron Cresswell cross to seal the three points for West Ham,

After the sending offs, Chelsea appeared to have lost it and even though they scored a goal, they never looked like winning the game. Chelsea could face charges from the FA following the game for their indiscipline, collecting seven yellow cards in the match, and failure to meet the media at the end of the game.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says that he is confident of remaining at the club even if they don't manage to get a Champions League spot this season.

Jose Mourinho
Chelsea are currently 16th in the EPL with just eight points from as many games and pressure is mounting on Jose Mourinho to turn things around. Chelsea's last league game was against Southampton at Stamford Bridge where they lost 2-3. That was the fourth time that Chelsea lost a game this season and the first time that they have conceded three goals at home under Mourinho.

Soon after the game a meeting with owner Roman Abramovich was called and Mourinho was given a vote of confidence by the board. Abramovich is not known to be a patient owner and many managers, including Mourinho himself in 2006-07 have faced the axe from the Russian billionaire.

But Mourinho is confident that he won't get sacked even if Chelsea finish outside the top four this season. He had earlier suggested after the Southampton game that Chelsea would be sacking the best ever manager if they part ways with him.

And Mourinho believes that Roman Abramovich's approach to the managers is now different and claims that it was one of the reasons why he joined the club a  couple of years back. Mourinho says that he felt that difference from the moment he joined the club in 2013.

Mourinho also claimed that he knew he would be getting a vote of confidence even before the meeting with the club's owners. Mourinho is the first manager to get a vote of confidence from the Russian owner.

Mourinho says that the club's decision to offer him a new deal this summer, even with him having two years left on his contract suggested the confidence they had in him.

He, however was disappointed by Chelsea's showings so far this season but cooled fears about his sacking, saying that the support he received was not something new for him. He also said that the vote of confidence was given just to stop the media rumours of him getting sacked.

Chelsea face Aston Villa on Saturday and will be without right back Branislav Ivanovic, while Diego Costa will return to the line up after missing his last three games through suspension.

Mourinho has hit out at the Football Association after he was fined £50,000 for his comments about the referee in the aftermath of Chelsea's loss against Southampton. He also launched another attack against Wenger without naming the Arsenal boss, claiming that he never gets punished by the FA.

Jose Mourinho
Mourinho was fined and was also was given a suspended stadium ban, which means that he will be banned from entering the stadium in case of another outburst.

Chelsea lost at home 3-2 to Southampton in their last game, and Mourinho felt aggrieved when Falcao was denied a penalty with the scores tied at 1-1. Replays show that the striker actually went down before there was any contact but Mourinho was angered by the referee's decision and spoke out in his post match media talk.

Mourinho had been warned previously by the FA and was fined subsequently. Mourinho was clearly not happy with the FA's decision and branded the punishment as "disgraceful" and "astonishing".

As always, Mourinho had time for Wenger, and attacked the Frenchman for not being punished for calling referee Mike Dean "weak" and "naive" after Arsenal's loss to Chelsea earlier this season.

Mourinho was punished for saying that the referees were afraid to give decisions in Chelsea's favour and he was surprised that Wenger wasn't punished for similar comments before.

Mourinho also talked about last year's incident when Wenger pushed Mourinho in the technical area and escaped punishment from the FA. He said that he was sort of a target for the FA and that they are very uinfair in their decision making.

Mourinho's Chelsea has been underperforming this season but he has received backing from his owner and most of his players but he will need to improve his team's performances sooner rather than later if he hopes to be at Chelsea at the end of the season.
