Manchester City target Inaki Williams has signed a new contract at Athletic Bilbao. The new contract will now run till 2021.
Pellegrini would be disappointed by this news considering the fact that he felt the striker could be a good back up to Aguero and was about to make a bid for the striker.
The earlier contract of the forward had a release clause of around £15 million and was only till 2017. However, the new contract of the forward would have a release clause which is estimated to be around £38 million. This huge amount pertinent to the release clause would certainly put City off from the deal for the 21 year old.
At the moment, City have Bony and young Iheanacho as a backup to their star striker Aguero. With Bony frustrated with his lack of chances and Iheanacho still quite raw, the City manager had considered the signing of Williams by sending his recruitment head Worthington to watch the player. The Bilbao striker has been in good form scoring about 10 goals in 22 games for the Spanish side.
City would now have to look for other alternatives and Pellegrini would also have to deal with an unhappy Bony in order to sustain their title challenge.
