Chelsea are apparently ready to boost their defensive department by signing Matt Miazga, considered as one of the hottest prospects in the US.
Miazga was scouted by several Premier league heavyweights including the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal. However, it seems that the Blues have edged them for the signature of the New York Red Bulls defender.
The amount of money offered by Chelsea for the 20 year old is around £3.5 million. However, the club would need to provide the American defender the assurance with respect to first team opportunities. Chelsea already have the likes of Terry, Zouma and Cahill in the center back position.
Hence, it was not a surprise when US national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann was a bit skeptical pertinent to the move because he felt that the Premier league champions may not be able to provide the necessary first team action to the talented Miazga.
The option of sending the defender back on loan to the US is also considered as one of the options although nothing has been confirmed from either club. If the deal does go through, the young US defender would certainly be provided with a great opportunity to prove his credentials on the big stage as well as stamp his authority on the national team.
