Javier Mascherano has certainly been a key player for Barcelona after joining the club from Liverpool in the year 2010. The Argentine certainly came into the spotlight in his stint with Liverpool where he played around three and half seasons.
Mascherano certainly remembers his time at Liverpool with fondness but he also stated that he will open to a move to another Premier league if the right opportunity arises. The Barcelona centre back stated that he had to leave Liverpool because he felt that the Reds lacked any direction after the departure of Rafael Benitez.
The Argentina International stated that he would always have feelings for the Reds but at the end of the day he is a professional and would be open to a move to another Premier league club.
He believes that he will not always be able to perform at the level that Barcelona requires and may have to move on at sometime in his career.
Mascherano, a defensive midfielder at Liverpool, now a centre back at Barcelona, however, rejected the possibility of him joining former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola at Manchester City candidly stating that Guardiola would not sign him.
The Barcelona defender has certainly been one of the best defenders for the past few seasons and was one of the most outstanding players for Argentina in the 2014 world cup. Hence, it will certainly not be a surprise if a Premier league club comes calling for the former Liverpool midfielder.
