Rumors with respect to Mourinho being the next United manager are intensifying even more with reports stating the Portuguese would be handed a £15 million per year contract.

3 Chinese clubs are lining summer bids for Juan Mata.
There may be some sections of fans who would be happy with the former Chelsea manager coming to Old Trafford. However, it seems two of United's players would have to bear the consequences of the former Real Madrid manager's arrival. Former Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata may again be forced out if Mourinho becomes the next United manager.

Mata has been a key player for United this campaign under LVG. However, similar to their Chelsea days, the arrival of Mourinho may force Mata to leave the club as the player may not fit in the manager's plans. Fellaini, on the other hand, has not be a favorite among the fans in his time at Old Trafford but has featured in most of the matches this season under LVG.

Mata, along with Fellaini ,was brought to United by former United manager David Moyes for around £37 million and £26 million respectively. Hence, the transfer fee they get out of their sale may help Mourinho in rebuilding a stagnant United squad.

However, it also has to be taken into consideration that although Mourinho is very highly expected to be the next United manager, it is by far a done deal.

Juan Mata has found time to share his words to pacify the angry United fans. The patience of fans with 'boring' LVG has hit new low after a  demoralizing defeat against Southampton, at Old Trafford.

Juan Mata: Manchester United players share fans’ unhappiness
The midfielder has used his blog to voice his say about the United game.

"After several games without being defeated, we lost to Southampton at home. It hurts, it really does", Mata wrote.

"It wasn't a good game from either of us. A draw would've been a fair result. But a late goal, took the points away from us".

He also added that it is time for the fans and players to stick with the manager and show more faith in him. He then said that Red Devils will bounce back from this defeat.

"It was a tough moment, for you and for us. But we must stick together and get through this".

Manchester United are currently fifth in the Premier League table, five points off from Tottenham, standing fourth.

United fans crucified Van Gaal verbally, when he took the walk down the tunnel, after the defeat from Southampton, courtesy of a late goal from Southampton debutant Charlie Austin.

When David de Gea arrived at the Spanish national team's training base ahead of upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against Slovakia and Macedonia.

According to reports in Italy, Serie A leader Juventus are not willing to give up hope of signing Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata.

Mata has scored 8 goals this season.

Juan Mata
United manager Louis van Gaal has stated that the former Chelsea man has an integral part of his plans and that Juventus have no chance of signing the 26-year-old.

According to Sky Italia, Juventus will make a renewed approach this summer and are not ready to give up on Mata yet.

Massimiliano Allegri is believed to be a huge fan of the Spain international and has asked the club's directors to enquire about the midfielder.

United are said to have no plans of parting with Mata, who signed from Chelsea for £37.1m in January 2014.

Juan Mata
Juan Mata arrived at United for £37.1 million during the January transfer window. The former Chelsea man was hailed as the savior to Man United's shocking season, but could not do anything to prevent the failures of David Moyes.

Since Louis van Gaal took the reigns at United, Mata has seemed to disappear into the background of the team and many think it's the correct decision.

In the past few months, the little Spaniard has been slated by the press and football fans alike for his supposed bad performances in recent matches.

With Wayne Rooney being suspended the media dubbed this as Mata's chance to prove himself to van Gaal. However, as reported in The Telegraph, Juan Mata has failed in doing so.

The no. 10 role at United has been dominated by the now club captain Wayne Rooney, who also played frequently in that position for England. This infatuation with Rooney having to play behind the striker, has always really troubled me.

To begin with, he isn't even that good at playing in that position. Rooney lacks the creativity, the vision, the dribbling and the technical ability that a no. 10 player requires. Mata has them all.

This season saw the departure of Japanese play-maker Shinji Kagawa, who returned to Borussia Dortmund. At the time of arrival to United, Kagawa was one of the best players in the German Bundesliga and arguably Dortmund's best player.

However, with Rooney seemingly having to play in the no. 10 position, Kagawa was moved out to the wing (or more often to the bench) and couldn't replicate his fantastic form seen in Germany. There's no doubt that Shinji Kagawa is a better play-maker than Rooney, but since the England captain was occupying the role, Kagawa was slated by the press for poor performances (due to being played out of position) and was later sold back to Dortmund.

Juan Mata is suffering the same fate as Shinji Kagawa had to. Mata has a pass success rate of 91.8% compared to Rooney's 83.8%. The United no. 10 has scored 3 and assisted 2 in 6 appearances for United (4 out of the 6 matches Rooney played as a striker) whereas Mata has scored 2 and assisted 1 in 7 appearances for United (however came on as a sub in one of those matches).

Rooney is superior by one more goal, but two of three he's scored have been from when he played as a striker, therefore Mata has more goals than Rooney from the no. 10 position, along with a much higher passing accuracy. Thus, all this talk about how Rooney is a much better no. 10 than Wayne Rooney is absolute garbage!

Van Gaal has already confirmed that his club captain (Wayne Rooney) will be playing in every match that he's available for this season, which is bad news for Juan Mata. With Rooney not being a better striker than Robin van Persie or Radamel Falcao, and van Gaal not wanting to play Rooney in central midfield (which I think would be beneficial for everyone) Mata will have to put on a bib once more, while Rooney is occupying that no. 10 position behind the strikers.

If United aren't careful they could find themselves wasting yet another potential world-class talent, in order to feed the ego of a not so world-class Wayne Rooney.

United hosted Queens Park Rangers at Old Trafford on Sunday, and their record signing Angel di Maria inspired a morale-boosting 4-0 victory for the Reds to break their win less streak.

Manchester United's Juan Mata after scoring against QPR

1.) New formation = New United?

Louis van Gaal opted for a 4 man defense in this match, mainly because he didn't have enough defenders to play his 'preferred' 3-5-2 system, but the result and the dominant performance must have made van Gaal think a bit about which system he will implement when he has a fully fit squad. Though I still think the 'Iron Tulip' will try and make United fit into a 4-3-3 system.

2.) The Angel Effect

United's record signing, Angel di Maria, showed just why he is worth every penny of the 50 odd million which saw him leave Real Madrid to join Old Trafford. The Argentine, who is currently one of the best players in the world, was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch, and ultimately inspired his side to the 4-0 victory.

3.) The Blind-Herrera Partnership

It was finally incredible to see us actually competing in midfield for once, and that was down to Ander Herrera and Daley Blind's fantastic performances. While Herrera played his normal box-to-box role, Blind was always there to cover up defensively which also allowed di Maria to attack freely and go charging up trying to lead a counter attack. These two will be key players as the season progresses.

4.) A Good Midfield = A Good Mata

In the opening matches of the season, Juan Mata has underperformed to say the least. The Spaniard found little freedom in his preferred role and failed to link the defense to attack like he was supposed to. However, with a midfield of Herrera, Blind and di Maria, Mata performed his role much better and that was visible on the pitch. Additionally, he also scored a goal which would have given him a much needed confidence boost.

5.) Strikers still a bit rusty?

Whilst captain Rooney found the back of the net with a nicely taken goal, van Persie and loan signing Radamel Falcao still looked a bit rusty, with both missing a couple of good chances which would've undoubtedly been buried if they were in top form. It is hardly concerning though, I am pretty sure they'll be back to their best soon.
