Pardew Interested in Adebayor
The problems of Crystal Palace in the striking department this season are not something new. Pardew is concerned that the lack of goals from their forwards can hinder the progress made by the London club this campaign and wants some urgent reinforcements.
In terms of results in the league, they have been quite good thanks to the creativity from their midfielders, mainly the likes of Bolasie, Cabaye and Zaha. However, their forwards have found it extremely difficult to find the back of the net. Pardew recently sent Patrick Bamford, who was on loan from Chelsea, back to his parent club after an uninspiring spell at the club.
Now, it seems that the former Newcastle manager is interested in former Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham striker Adebayor. Adebayor is currently a free agent having been let go by Spurs in the month of September. Pardew has stated that most of the players won’t be available in the transfer market given the fact that they are on huge contracts and teams would be reluctant to sell their players midway through the season.
Adebayor, however, is one such player very much available. The Togo International is a player that divides opinions like no one else. On his day, he can be a real handful but the fact that those days are quite few and far in between, has been the problem. One thing about Adebayor is that he has always been a good player on a short term basis and that will definitely please Pardew.
His loan spell at Madrid and Tottenham, before making it permanent, was quite fruitful and Pardew will definitely look to capitalize on that fact. Palace have scored around 22 league goals this season which is quite meagre given their league position and the arrival of Adebayor may be the perfect shot in the arm.
