Mauricio Pochettino would work on a farm rather than be a manager at Barcelona, but has refused to rule himself out of the running for Real Madrid Job

Mauricio Pochettino
Pochettino played his part in piling on the pressure on Zinedine Zidane, albeit inadvertently. The Real Madrid manager suffered a barrage of criticism after his team crashed out of the Copa Del Rey. Zidane did not play a full strength team against the minnows Leganes, who shocked the world and beat Real 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu. The result meant that Madrid were dumped out of the cup on away goals rule.

The Tottenham manager refused to rule out a move to the European Champions. Admitting uncertainty over his future, he said, “You never know in football. That is the problem. It is a very unstable situation.”

Pochettino went on to state that his commitment to a club is absolute. The former Espanyol manager was adamant that there is no chance he would manage Arsenal or Barcelona. He has deep ties with Barca’s cross-town rivals, who he played for 8 years and managed for a further three and a half years. “I am never going to be a manager at Barcelona or Arsenal because I am so identified with Tottenham and Espanyol. That is my decision — I prefer to work on my farm in Argentina than in some places.”

Pochettino also hit back at Arsene Wenger. The Frenchman took a swipe aimed at Pochettino and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. He said that other clubs were receiving more credit despite Arsenal winning 3 of the last 4 FA Cups. Pochettino replied, “Going back to Liverpool and Tottenham… this is what he [Arsene Wenger] has to understand — how difficult it is for a manager or a coach here, with these clubs (where) you don’t have full control.”

“That is the difference to him. He has full control over everything. He decides whatever he wants to do. That is why you appreciate when Liverpool or Spurs play well. They are completely different for the manager.” Earlier, Pochettino pointed out how his job security is not absolute like that of Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson.

Tottenham will play League-Two side Newport in the FA Cup during the weekend. Pochettino would be keen to avoid a case of giant-killing, something that his potential future employers suffered a couple of days back.

It was never going to be a surprise that Tottenham would look to increase the current deal of their manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Mauricio Pochettino has verbally agreed a new five-year contract with Tottenham.
And it has been reported that the Argentinean manager has increased his current deal to five years which now makes him tied to the club till 2021. The 44 year old apparently has verbally agreed the deal with his club realizing the fact that other big European clubs may come calling for their manager next season.

Tottenham have enjoyed a great campaign this season which would mostly see them finish second in the Premier league table, although they do still have a slim chance of winning the Premier league title. The brilliant work done by Pochettino has not gone unnoticed and the club was keen to extend his deal, which currently still has three years left.

The news would certainly be exciting for Spurs fans, amidst the rumors that their manager may be poached by Manchester United. The Spurs manager stated there was no need to change given the hospitality and support that he has received since coming at the club.

It is not often that Harry Redknapp acknowledges something good when it is due.

Harry Redknapp believes Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs side is better than his side who reached the quarter finals of the Champions league in 2011.

The former Tottenham manager, however, stated that he believes Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs side is better than his side who reached the quarter finals of the Champions league in 2011. The then Tottenham side consisted for superstars like Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.

However, Redknapp believes that the current Tottenham side is better all over the pitch. The former Portsmouth manager stated that he was very surprised to see the emergence of Harry Kane over the last two years and Dele Alli in this campaign.

He felt this Tottenham side has certainly punched above their weight and have a good chance of dethroning Leicester City from the top of the Premier league table. Redknapp believes Tottenham are not doing great just because of Pochettino's double training sessions, but it is also very much due to the fitness of the current Tottenham players.

Although Leicester City are five points clear, the former West Ham manager believes Tottenham will win the next four matches, which would certainly require Leicester to get more points than expected off their remaining four matches.

The impressive season that Tottenham are currently enjoying is certainly credited to the brilliant work done by their Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino. Hence, it is not a surprise that the Tottenham coach has been tracked by various Premier league clubs.

The way in which Pochettino has put Spurs in a title race for the first time in decades has greatly impressed the Chelsea board.
Pochettino was very much linked with the Manchester United job along with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho. However, it seems that the Premier league champions are also considering a move for the Argentine coach.

Pochettino has done an extremely good job of rebuilding this Tottenham side after the departure of Andre Villas Boas. Rebuilding is certainly something that is needed at Chelsea and hence, it is perfectly justified from Chelsea's point of view that they have considered the former Southampton boss to be a good candidate.

It has been reported that Pochettino is on the five man shortlist of Chelsea which also includes Juventus manager Allegri, Italy boss Conte, ex Chile boss Sampaoli and Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone.

However, Pochettino has dismissed rumors of him leaving the North London club and the fact that Tottenham are very much in a title race whereas Chelsea are struggling to even get into mid table in the Premier league can be seen as a point to be taken into consideration.

Tottenham manager Pochettino has stated that his team has what it takes to win the Premier League. The Argentine emphasized on the current squad's quality, before explaining that it was not correct to eliminate them from the 'Title Favorites’ tag with the first half of the season barely complete.

Mauricio Pochettino
Mauricio Pochettino also spoke about the awesome talent of the youngsters Eric Dier and Dele Alli. He also lauded the consistency his team has put displayed, and believes that consistency is the deciding factor over the long season of 38 games.

Pochettino, even at his young age, has been regarded as one of the finest scout to pick young talents and nurture them to a global star status, the best example being Harry Kane. He spoke about the risk which managers take when they give chance to youngsters.

Tottenham are currently 5th in the table, but have only lost twice. Their latest defeat came against Newcastle United last week. The defeat saw the end of a 15-game-unbeaten run for the North Londoners.

Tottenham travel to St.Mary's to face Southampton on Saturday.

Tottenham's unbeaten run since the first week defeat to Manchester United at the start of the season will be tested when they host their London rivals Chelsea on Sunday.

Tottenham vs Chelsea
Team News:

Dele Alli will be missing the London derby due to suspension and his England counter-part Ryan Mason will be taking his place in the starting line-up. Pochettino confirmed that Algerian midfielder Nabil Bentaleb will be missing the fixture due to the ankle injury, which has kept him out since September. Midfielders Nacer Chadli and Alex Pritchard still remain on the sidelines.

Chelsea’s manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that John Terry and Ramires remain doubtful for the London derby. Kurt Zouma will be partnering with Gary Cahill in the central defense. Belgian shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois has returned to full training after missing two months of action due to foot injury, but he is still not in a contention to play the derby.

Probable line-ups:

Tottenham Hotspurs:

Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dier, Dembele, Son, Eriksen, Mason, Kane

Chelsea:

Begovic, Ivanovic, Zouma, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Fabregas, Matic; Willian,
Pedro, Hazard, Costa.

Predicted scoreline:

Tottenham 1 – 2 Chelsea

Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has claimed the Premier League player of the month award for September. The new signing at Old Trafford has started life in England in outstanding fashion and scored three times in four league appearances in September.

Anthony Martial has been named Premier League Player of the Month for September.
Martial was signed in the summer with the pressure of a huge price tag but the teenager has responded well and had scored in his cameo debut against Liverpool.

He found the net again in Manchester United's 3-2 away win against Southampton, where he scored two goals and claimed the man of the match award. He also scored once again in a Capital One game and has been impressive in his other outings as well.

Martial's pace, dribbling and direct style of play has earned him many admirers and has brought a new dimension to Manchester United's attack. He fended off competition from players like Riyad Mahrez to claim the award.

But Martial was unable to win Manchester United's own player of the month award as Juan Mata pipped him to that.

Tottenham Hotspurs manager Mauricio Pochettino won the Manager of the month award after leading his team to three wins last month, including a 4-1 win against Manchester City.

Martial, who signed for United from Monaco on transfer deadline day for £36 million, has recently said that he was confident of challenging for titles this year with his new club.

Spurs face Liverpool this week and will be the first team to face Jurgen Klopp in the Premier League this season.
