Roberto Mancini slams Inter player for his 'stupidity'
Roberto Mancini has voiced his frustration over conceding a late penalty goal against Lazio on Sunday. Inter midfielder Filipe Melo was on one end of the act, when he unnecessarily fouled Lazio's Savic in the dying minutes. The challenge resulted in a penalty, which was converted into winning goal for Lazio.
Mancini was furious about losing the game on such fashion and said that they could have been happy going into Christmas if they were able to draw against Lazio.
"We knew that it would be a difficult game, but we did nothing different than in other games. I am disappointed because we gave away the match," former Manchester City coach explained.
"We leveled the scoring and then threw away the game again. Lazio's winning goal was the result of stupidity"
Inter Milan are currently at the helm of Italian Seri A with 36 points, but a bunch of teams including Florienta, Napoli and Juventus are breathing down their nose. If Melo had avoided his reckless act, Inter Milan might have stretched themselves from the chasing pack.
