Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has certainly been impressed with new signing Kevin De Bruyne, who played a pivotal part in their recent Champions league win over PSG.

Chelsea are not happy about De Bruyne sale, claims Pellegrini

De Bruyne was injured for major part of the season but has been instrumental for the Citizens in this campaign. The Belgian midfielder has certainly justified his £54 million tag in this season with some brilliant form being displayed at times by the former Chelsea midfielder.

According to Pellegrini, the form of Kevin De Bruyne in his second stint in England would certainly hurt Chelsea, who sold him for around £16 million to Wolfsburg just two years ago. He believes Chelsea had good players then but made the mistake of selling Kevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne left the club because of the lack of games under his belt during the tenure of Mourinho. Mourinho was also criticized for the sale of Lukaku, who is another Belgian International who has shown his brilliance in this season with Everton.

Pellegrini has likened the sale of De Bruyne to that of Paul Pogba, who was let go for free by Manchester United. Pogba later went on to become one of the best midfielders in the world during his time at Juventus.

Manchester City were beaten 1-2 by a spirited West Ham side on Saturday at the Etihad. Early goals from Victor Moses and Diafra Sakho helped the Hammers on their way. City's consolation goal was from Kevin De Bruyne.

Record signing Kevin De Bruyne made his first start for City but they were without skipper Vincent Kompany. The absence of Kompany through meant Otamendi made his first start for City alongside Mangala. David Silva suffered a late injury in warm-up and missed the game.

Goalkeeper Adrian returned for West Ham after his three game ban. Carl Jenkinson and Pedro Obiang also returned to the starting line up for the Hammers.

Moses gave the visitors an early lead when he scored with a long range effort past Joe Hart. Moses was given too much space in the middle of the park to turn and shoot, and the midfielder took full advantage of it by squeezing one past Hart.

This was the first goal that City had conceded this season in the league and they had not conceded a goal in their previous 572 minutes. But soon after they had a chance to equalize when Aguero rounded past Adrian but his shot was too tame and off target.

West Ham doubled their advantage when Diafra Sakho scrambled one past Joe Hart from a corner. City's defending of that set piece was horrible and they looked all over the place. City could have been three down moments later if not for Mangala's last ditch tackle on Sakho.

City pulled one back just before half time with De Bruyne drilling one into the near post from outside the area. It was the Belgians first goal for the club after being signed for a record fee this summer.

The second half saw City push forward for an equalizer but they couldn't find a way past Adrian and the West Ham defence. Winston Reid was a rock at the heart of their defence and City couldn't find a way through.

Yaya Toure was denied by Adrian before Payet found Sakho with a superb pass which the striker dragged wide. Toure again got in behind the defence at the other end but his strike was wide off the post.

Jesus Navas had a poor game on City's right flank. The winger was too one dimensional and his crossing was poor throughout. He wasn't willing to try anything creative and there was little threat through that flank for City.

City came the closest to scoring in the second half when Otamendi's looping header from a corner was tipped over the bar by Adrian in the 85th minute.

The victory means City's eleven game winning run in the league was brought to an end. It was a wonderful display overall from West Ham, showing courage and willingness throughout. Payet, Sakho, Reid and Adrian impressed particularly.
