Sullay Kaikai is trying hard to secure a first team spot
Crystal Palace midfielder Sullay Kaikai is trying hard to secure a place in the first team. He sees every game as an opportunity and wants to leave no stone unturned.
The English midfielder played full 90 minutes against Bolton Wanderers on Monday and showed glimpses of what he is capable of. Crystal Palace lost the game by 2 goals, scoring none against the U23 side of ‘The Whites’. The 21-year-old impressed the crowd with his great runs and crosses into the box.
Kaikai also expressed his frustration with the disappointing result of the game. The team played with 5 first team players and still lost 2-0 at home.
He said that he was very disappointed as he thought that the team did well at times, but overall it was not enough.
He also stated that he felt that the team lost as they played back and not forward for most of the time. It cost them the game and the players should have also showed more intensity at times.
As both first team coach Kevin Keen and assistant manager Sammy Lee were watching the game from the stands, he believed that the match was another opportunity for the young players to leave a mark.
He called U23 football as a platform which makes the young players ready for men’s football and a learning curve. He also stated about the importance of staying fresh and fit as a good opportunity could come to a player at any time.
He said, "It is a good opportunity to get some fitness and to try and impress the staff who are watching. It is about going into the game with the right approach, really.”
He also said that one never knows who is watching, so every player should be ready to impress in every game. Putting a satisfactory performance is every game is necessary to increase the chances of an opportunity coming your way.
Kaikai started as a youth product of Crystal Palace at the age of fifteen and scored on his debut for the club. He was recently at Brentford on a season long loan and was called back by his parent club on 2 January 2017.
Crystal Palace gained promotion in 2013 and have been playing in the top flight since. The club's shirts have been sponsored by Mansion, an online gambling company that operates Mansioncasino.com and other online casinos websites.
