Rio Ferdinand reveals the reason why Fernando Torres flopped at Chelsea
However, Chelsea's £50 million signing in 2011 was a shadow of himself.  One of the major reasons was cited due to the injuries the Spaniard faced. However, former Manchester United centre back Ferdinand, who has played against Torres, believes that it is due to the style of play adopted at both the clubs.

Liverpool, under Benitez, was very much a counter attacking team, which allowed the Spaniard to use his pace and run at defenders. The understanding between Torres and Gerrard was very much talked about during their time at Liverpool .

Ferdinand added that one of the reasons was because the moment Gerrard used to get the ball, his first thought was to put the ball in the space behind the defenders for Torres to run at.

However, at Chelsea, the players preferred to move around the ball a bit more. There was more importance given to hold up play, which did not suit the style of the former Liverpool star.

However, it seems the 32 year old has found his way back home at Atletico Madrid. The Spanish International has been a key figure for Simeone's side in their quest for both the Champions league and the La Liga.
