Manchester United goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone has joined Preston North End for a brief loan spell. The 22-year old will be part of the Preston club for 28 days, after which Preston have the option to extend the loan period.

Sam Johnstone
The English goalkeeper joined Manchester United academy in 2009, but failed to put up a show that could guarantee him a place. He started going out on loan since 2011 and has since be a part of five lower division clubs.

Sam Johnstone played as United goalkeeper in some of the friendlies in May, and was hoping to be a cover for De Gea, after his regular backup Lindegaard was injured.

His career with Manchester United has never really taken off, and his only notable appearance for the Red Devils came in the FA youth cup.

This is his second stint at Preston, after making 22 appearances for the club earlier this season.

Preston manager Simon Grayson expressed his excitement in having the 'enthusiastic' goalkeeper back at his team. The goalkeeper also shared that he is relieved of getting some much-needed first team chances.

The Preston manager also revealed that there is an option to extend the spell.
