Chelsea are on the verge of agreeing a 5-year contract with Thibaut Courtois

According to  Evening Standard, Chelsea are on the verge of agreeing a new 5-year contract with Thibaut Courtois.

The reports claim that a new deal is very close and its only the salary which is the cause of this delay. His current salary is said to be £30,000-a-week.

Courtois, currently on loan at Atletico Madrid, has 2 years left in his contract and Chelsea want him to sign a new contract that would keep him at the club until 2019.

Courtious is also said to be asking for assurances that he will get the opportunity to compete with Petr Cech after coming back from loan. Chelsea want to loan him out for at least on more season
