10 Bizarre football moments

10. The Newcastle fight

Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer
Special I tell you. I was shocked to see two teammates Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer fist it out. A red card for each the reward. One of the rare sights during a football match!

9. Cameroon Wrestle-Mania

With allegations of match fixing circling the African side it was sad to see Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Benjamin Moukandjo have a dispute on the field with teammate Pierre Webo having to stop the two. Did someone bet on a red card or two? Embarrassment to their country!

8. Beach ball incident

Pepe Reina
One of the funniest I must admit. Sunderland vs Liverpool as Darrent Bent's shot struck a beach ball and deflected past Pepe Reina. Mike Jones the guilty referee was dropped to the Championship!

7. Phil Brown half-time talk

Later a goal celebration by Jimmy Bullard.  Hull were trailing to hosts Manchester City 4-0 and this saw Manager Phil Brown sit the team on a pitch and give them a finger wagging talk. Did curb the damage; Hull lost 5-1.

6. Suarez looking for fourth bite victim?

Not once, twice but three times. One of the most devastating finishers in the World. The Barcelona striker has been involved in biting at Ajax, Liverpool and for his country Uruguay. We await his next victim in Barcelona colors! I sure hope it is Pepe in the clash against Real Madrid!!

5. Alan Pardew headbutt

The manager of Newcastle was banned Seven games and given a hefty fine. Why? He headbutted a Hull player on the touchline. This was yet another of his indiscretions. Unnecessary as they were winning.

4. Zidane vs Materazzi

One of the greatest players of his age. He was prone to a red card and who would have thought of such behavior in a World Cup final? It was a little bit of banter between Zinedine Zidane and Italian Marco Materazzi when the french maestro just turned and headbutts Marco's chest. A living memory from World Cup 2006!

3. Ball boy scores!

Silvia Regina de Oliveira was the first female to referee the Brazilian National Championship. In 2006, Atletico Sorocaba led Santacruzense by a goal. In a last attempt on goal to get an equalizer which saw the trailing side miss just wide. A ball boy ran on the pitch and side footed into the net. The referee had her back turned, assumed ball had gone in and it ended 1-1. The result was held up and referees suspended. Bizarre!

2. King Cantona

He took enough abuse from the fans. He decided to deal with it personally.  Getting a red was bad enough but having to send a double-footed kung-fu kick to an abusive fan, then threw a punch was one of the most outrageous scenes at Selhurst Park.

1.Karl Power the man!

In 2001 an unemployed laborer walked out at the Olympic Stadium with the Manchester United team. He not only had a picture taken on this European night but avoided being noticed, went on to be on the field at Lords and played tennis at Wimbledon.  What an opportunistic character.
