This week's best XI

The second unbeaten run ended this week, as PSG fell at the hands of Guingamp. Manchester City stay with Chelsea as Manchester United join title race. Real Madrid will be top of la liga going into the new year as Barcelona come stuck against a disciplined Getafe side. Bayer continue to set pace as I select the Weekend's top performers:

(3-4-3)

David De Gea
David de Gea (Manchester United)
The Spanish international continues to wow spectators as he produced another master class display. The shot stopper made an amazing eight saves in the match including rectifying a misplaced pass as Sterling looked set to score. Having won his duel in the first half with Raheem Sterling, the second half was even more exceptional as he managed to nullify the threats of Italian maverick Mario Balotelli. One word for him: Wall.

Emiliano Velazquez (Getafe)
The young defender on loan from champions Atletico Madrid was exceptional on the day. Interceptions and tackles were great and he was a towering threat in the back four. He looked a quality defender as he managed to stop any threat Barcelona managed to throw at his side. One word for him: Solid.

Jason Shackell (Burnley)
The veteran defender was exceptional. Burnley managed their first ever Premier League win in December and it was largely thanks to a quality defensive display. Shackell made young Michael Keane at home as the pair took advantage of a confidence short Southampton.

Dorian Leveque (Guingamp)
Rarely put a foot wrong as the defender managed to stop the star studded, illustrious attack of Paris St German. It could all had been different had a penalty been awarded for what looked a reckless challenge on Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
A header! Hazard scored with a header. This is not something you rarely see as the wizard managed to score only his second header. The midfielder was at the heart of everything Chelsea managed as a sense of Cesc Fabregas was not felt. The well taken header of Oscar's pin point cross saw him also return the favor to setup Diego Costa who has had a drought recently, in front of goal.

Juan Malta (Manchester United)
Five goals from six shots on target, accuracy that is sensational! The Spaniard continues his excellent form in front of goal as he manages a goal and an assist against a Liverpool side that is quickly spiraling. For majority of the season he has found himself out of favor, yet when he plays continues to produce the goods.

Jeremy Pied (Guingamp)
Not one name most will be familiar with, but among his fans a hero, the scorer of the winner against PSG. While his off the ball efforts were commendable it is his goal that gets him in the top performers’ squad.

Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich)
The Dutch star is the beacon and focal point of the Bavarians. Despite the theatrical fall over the weekend the winger's double against Augsburg managed to stop the resilient opposition. With rumors rife that Louis van Gaal is set to come in for the player. Will Bayern even manage without him? One word for him: Top double.

Wilfried Bony (Swansea)
Another goal as the Ivorian proves his ability to score. Despite a flurry of missed opportunities the striker scored the equalizer for his home side. Swansea went on to lose however the pedigree and value of Bony continues to rise.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
Two late goals sealed the fate of Almeria as the striker warmed up for the Club World Cup. Ronaldo is looking unstoppable as he leads the top goal scorer charts worldwide.

Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
The captain! Leads from the front as Manchester United continue to surge up the table. A goal to open the scoring against bitter rivals Liverpool and a work horse like performance saw the English star help his team make it six wins in a row.
