Valdes signs for Manchester United

Reports from Spain are claiming that the 32-year-old goalkeeper has signed an 18 month contract with the Red Devils.

Victor Valdes
Victor Valdes tore his anterior cruciate ligament last season, which in turn left him out of the Spanish squad for the Brazil World Cup.

The three time European champion had been training with United for three months in an attempt to recover from his injury. After saying he'd be leaving Barcelona at the end of the 13/14 season, the injury has made sure Valdes has been a free agent since the end of that campaign.

Louis van Gaal gave the goalkeeper his debut back when he was in charge of the Catalan side. Asked about the potential signing of Valdes back in November, van Gaal's response was "Manchester United has always their eyes open."

If the reports are to be believed, this raises even more question marks about the future of David De Gea. With Real Madrid being interested in the United number one and no movements being made towards a new contract, questions will be asked about which Spaniard will be we wearing the number one shirt in years to come.
