The Spain forward is the Premier League's joint-top scorer with 19 goals in an impressive debut campaign. Costa's physical presence up front is a constant problem for defence and makes him an ideal fit for the EPL, where he has been excellent since arriving from Atletico Madrid.
Even though his on-the-field antics make Costa the Premier League's new pantomime villain, but such a tag should not harm his chances of winning the award. Luis Suarez won it too last year.
