The Red Devils are still in pole position to land the Borussia Dortmund midfielder but late interest from the Serie A side could make getting the transfer over the line a bit difficult.

United feel confident that a deal can be sealed to bring their man to Old Trafford since they have already been in touch with Gundogan's representatives. The club have also been informed the transfer needs to be completed quickly.

United manager Louis van Gaal is ready to pay over the odds to sign the 24-year-old and wants the Dortmund star to dictate the centre of his midfield next season even when Gundogan will be out of contract at the end of next season.

According to reports in Italy, Milan are also looking forward to sign the BVB player and hoping that their big summer transfer target will help the club to stop its languishing form as a mid-table side in Serie A.

The player has also revealed recently that he is in talks with both Barcelona & Bayern Munich over a potential summer transfer
