Two teams. One trophy. It has been a journey that has been bumpy for both sides. Unlikely heroes for both sides as Eduardo Vargas and Angel Di Maria have managed to grab the headlines.
Lionel Messi and Alexis Sanchez have coupled in with silky runs, exciting assists and despite having the solitary goal each have been instrumental to both sides' success. The latter is the top goal scorer in the tournament and his rocket strike in the semi final was the difference between the hosts and Chile. There was a hiccup for the Chileans off the field with Arturo Vidal at the heart of a drunken driving scandal; however another blockbuster midfield performance saw that swiftly forgotten as the trio of Vargas, Vidal and Sanchez destroyed all before them to reach the final in front of their own fans.
Will they be able to stop the resurgent Argentinians who despite the class in their ranks have failed to set the world alight.A penalty shoot out win over Colombia left a few fans nervous but it all was forgotten in the semi-final. Manchester United's Di Maria has been exceptional as he has managed to find his best form. He has been a terror for defenders and his performance in the semi-finals which saw Paraguay humbled 6-1 was an early marker of what Chile can expect.
This will be an exciting final with all the attacking foray and mediocre defenses. Man for man the Argentinians will edge it but with the home crowd and the hunger and desire to finally win the Copa America it should be an exciting final with two attack minded teams. One thing is for sure, at least one Argentinian will hold the trophy aloft with both coaches Argentinian!!
Prediction- Argentina win
