United's Worst Number Sevens In Recent History - 3

3. Michael Owen

Squad numbers allocation started in 1993 and di Maria was only the sixth player to don the famous shirt number. The first three were Cantona, Beckham and Ronaldo and it was a  hard act to follow for Michael Owen.

Michael Owen
The former Liverpool striker was well past his world-class best by the time he signed for United.
Owen was also never going to be loved at Old Trafford. The English striker signed on a pay-as-you-play deal.

Owen spent a lot of time outside the field due to injuries. He managed to score just five goals from 31 appearances during his three seasons at United.

Although Owen will never enter the pantheon of great number sevens, but will be always remembered by United fans for his 96th minute winner in a classic Manchester derby.
