Eva Carneiro leaves Chelsea

Chelsea doctor Eva Carneiro has decided to leave the club after receiving criticism from her manager Jose Mourinho after the game against Swansea six weeks ago.

Eva Caneiro
Mourinho had called his medical staff "impulsive and naive" after they entered the pitch during the late stages of the game against Swansea City. Chelsea had Thibaut Courtois sent off in the game and were down to ten players already and the medics took Eden Hazard out of the pitch for treatment during the closing stages of the match, leaving Chelsea with just nine men on the pitch.

Mourinho publicly criticized the medics saying that every member of the club should understand the game and should act accordingly. Mourinho also refused to apologize for those comments days later. But Eva Carneiro and physio Jon Fearn received support from experts saying that they were right to enter the field for treating the player.

Following that incident Mourinho asked Carneiro to work in the training ground only and was removed from her position on the Chelsea bench. Later reports claimed that Mourinho used abusive, sexist language against the female physio and may face an FA probe regarding the same.

Carneiro, had been absent from the Chelsea camp on leave for weeks following the incident but it now appears that the Gibraltar born physio will not be returning to Chelsea. Eva is now considering taking some legal action against the club and Mourinho regarding the way she was treated there and the language that was used against her following that incident in the match against Swansea.

Eva Carneiro, now 42, has been at Chelsea for five years.
