Lewandowski was the star man at Allianz Arena as he inspired Bayern Munich to come from one goal down to win the game against Wolfsburg. Lewandowski was in exceptional form as he came on as a substitute and scored five times within a space of ten minutes.
It was more like something out of a computer game as all the players, commentators and even the referee stood in awe watching the Pole work his magic on the pitch. He showed exactly what a world class striker can do as he turned the game on its head.
Bayern started brightly with Douglas Costa testing Neuer from distance a couple of times in the first half. Gotze then released Muller with an exquisite pass but the German shot wide. Wolfsburg's moment came in the 26th minute when they were on the counter. Draxler found Caliguri with a wonderful lobbed pass and the midfielder took his time before volleying it over Neuer with power. Neuer could have saved it but the power and speed in the shot was too much. Neuer had a moment of madness then when he raced towards the halfway line but miscontrolled the ball and Guilavogui shot from there. He hit the post from that distance and it could have been Wolfsburg's second of the game.
Bayern needed some inspiration from somewhere and Pep put Lewandowski in and it paid off almost immediately. Thomas Muller was set up by a sweet back heel from Vidal but the German's touch wasn't good enough to control it. Lewandowski was on hand though to poke the ball past Benaglio to score his first of the game in the 51st minute.
Lewandowski scored his second, dragging the ball into the side of the net from outside the area, as he pulled a goal out of nowhere for Bayern. It was an inch perfect shot and was placed just beyond the reach of Benaglio. Gotze then set up the Pole for Lewa in a counter attack before he hit the post and somehow scrambled it past the line from the rebound thus completing his hattrick in under four minutes.
Bayern fans should be forgiven for thinking that that was all as Lewandowski had more to produce. Wolfsburg's defence was already disenchanted as they were taken apart so quickly by the striker but Dante tried his best to keep them focused and motivated.
Douglas Costa showed his pace and power to run down the left flank and cross the ball in. The cross was deflected into the path of Lewandowski for him to volley it past Benaglio. The striker saved his best for the last as he scored a sensational volleyed goal from Gotze's cross in the 60th minute to finish his say in the game.
The game was virtually finished by that point and Bayern now sit three points clear of Dortmund at the top of the table, although Dortmund have a game in hand.
