The news of Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane being the new head coach of the Galacticos was certainly received with a sense of optimism among the Madrid faithful. There was this belief that Madrid opted to go the Barcelona way by giving their club legend a good experience of coaching their B team before giving a huge opportunity to coach the first team.
However, there are reports stating that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez initially offered the job to former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. Mourinho may have fallen apart from his Madrid team before joining Chelsea in 2013 along with certain sections of the Madrid fans but he was always highly regarded by the top management at Real Madrid.
One of the other major reasons for such a move was also the fact that Zidane may not be ready for such a top job, with the French legend only having the experience of coaching Madrid's B team prior to this appointment. However, the surprise is that there are reports stating that Mourinho wants to coach in the premier league itself and if that rumor is true there would certainly be no problem in guessing the club that the Portuguese manager has his eyes on.
The return of Mourinho to Madrid may have been complicated given the history between the manager and the club. However, as far as Madrid fans are concerned, they would certainly hope that their new boss would be able to replicate what a certain Guardiola did for their arch rivals Barcelona.
