Mignolet failed to keep a powerfully driven strike from Fernandinho, which handed City their first goal of the evening. The Belgian was certainly at fault for the goal but later redeemed himself with some brilliant saves later in the game.

However, the former Sunderland goalkeeper was unable to help his side win the final when the game went on to penalties. When asked about his mistake pertinent to the first goal, the Belgian stated that he has not yet analyzed the incident and is currently disappointed on losing the final.

The two teams meet together again in the Premier league and the Reds' goalkeeper added that it is important for the team to move on with games coming thick and fast in the Premier league and the Europa league.

Liverpool face their arch rivals Manchester United in the Europa league and Mignolet feels that it is important for the team to look forward to those games.

The Reds were recently linked with Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegen and such inconsistent performances from their Belgian goalkeeper would certainly make Klopp prioritize to go for a new goalkeeper for the start of next season.
