Former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has stated the importance of leaders within the United team in order to remove pressure from the upcoming youngsters.
Vidic, who was regarded as one of the best defenders in the world during his time at the club, reserved his praise for Chris Smalling. Smalling has been in scintillating form for the Red Devils in this season. Vidic stated that he likes Smalling because the England International likes to defend, a trait which is quite rare in the current footballing world.
He believes that it is important for a club like Manchester United to win trophies. In seasons in which they do not win any trophies, it is important that the experienced players take more blame because it would be harder on the youngsters to take the blame.
Vidic is happy with the development of the youth under Louis Van Gaal and believes that the club has always believed in that philosophy. He also stated the importance of patience in these youngsters in order for them to come good in the future.
