Stefan de Vrij in action for Netherlands |
Accordign to talkSPORT and other reports, Manchester United have agreed a deal with Feyenoord to sign their defender Stefan de Vrij this summer.
The Red Devils have been looking for highly rated defenders to replace Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, after both the players both left the club this summer, and have now turned to the Dutch centre-back.
Serie A side Lazio were said to have an agreement with the Dutch club for the 22-year-old before the World Cup, but the move is now believed to have fallen through.
Louis van Gaal is currently coaching De Vrij with the Netherlands side in Brazil in their World Cup campaign and this has opened the door to this possible move.
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport the stopper, De Vrij will move to Old Trafford for around £8million. The defender has only has one year left on his current contract.
If reports are to be believed, De Vrij will become Van Gaal's third singing of the summer, after Athletic Bilbao's Ander Herrera and Southampton left-back Luke Shaw.
