The success Atletico had last season can be contributed much to their defensive shield of which Godin was the crucial part. He guarded the Atletico defences like a warrior all through last season and made it tough even for the likes of Messi and Ronaldo to pass through him last season.He also chipped in with crucial headers that too in the most important of matches one being the League Title decider match up against Barca(which they won due to this header) and the other being the Champions League Final against Real(which they lost by a whisker). I cannot come up with a logical explanation as to why Godin doesn't find a place in the Nominations list but Ramos and Mascherano sure do.
