December is here, lets see what we have seen

Chelsea still undefeated in Europe have been flirting with greatness. Jose Mourinho however noted they still not ripe yet. I have seen the Blues have a weakness and that is their failure to assert themselves on away games. The "Special One" needs to come up with a formula. Opposition coaches will start to pick up the trend and frustrate the Champions in waiting. They have failed to win at Maribor, Manchester United, and Manchester City, and recently at Sunderland. Jose Mourinho will probably retire with the greatest home record in his coaching career. The Blues struggle to kill these games off. They fix this and the London based side could be really frightening. The Sunderland result could be a Champions league hangover. Chelsea still remain six points clear at the top and with the busy December here, first up they face a rejigged Spurs this week. Wins on away games would leave the title race, being a one horse race and Chelsea invincible...

Borussia Dortmund are in a relegation fight. The Star studded side is battling for confidence and Wednesday's defeat to Arsenal and the defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt has left them at a new found low. While rivals Bayern Munich are seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. The true test for Jurgen Klopp is to get the side firing again and out of the drop zone. Will they be able to grab a European slot? Could this be the end of Klopp and Reus? Is it time for some fresh blood? It is inevitable the side will turn it around but time is running out. Dortmund need a run and a miracle to make the Champions league. Forgotten are the highs of beating Bayern Munich in the Super Cup.

There have been some outstanding signings this year: Top of the list being Diego Costa, Diafra Sakho, Alex Song, Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas, players that have arrived at their clubs and have made significant impacts. Unfortunately you need to look at the end where there are players that have not performed as well as you would want. This is the burden Manchester City fans have with Eliaquim Mangala who has had his fair share of howlers, Mario Balotelli who can't find the net and Radamel Falcao is struggling to get off the hospital bed. These are the high profile transfers that have grabbed my attention for the good and the bad. Game changers are hard to come by and the above have done just that for their clubs.

The busiest month is upon us, the festive period. There is no month that has as many games as December. It is the defining month and to my shock not a single Premier League manager has been sacked as yet. Expect December to change all that, as the halfway mark is reached, January is around the corner for further strengthening and giving the next manager an opportunity to redeem the side. Steve Bruce and Nigel Pearson are my lead contenders for the sack. With QPR showing some resurgence could they be on the verge of bursting out the drop zone? Burnley have turned a corner, Leicester City have lost all that early form and are now rooted at the base of the table. If there is a time to turn things around this is the month. We separate the title contenders, the relegation fighters, European missionaries and the rest.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic managed to fire PSG to yet another win. In La Liga, Cristiano Ronaldo had two stupendous assists as he and Messi failed to find the back of the net. The break for the rest of the leagues is approaching as the Premier League is set to get into overdrive!! Let us sit back, relax and watch the December edition of the European Leagues!
