Strong and Mighty Liverpool Support

Liverpool’s anthem is You’ll Never Walk Alone, and every match, before kickoff, supporters raise their scarves and begin to sing. The song is quite powerful, giving chills to anyone hearing the 40 thousand supporters singing it harmoniously to cheer on the reds at Anfield. Those four words, you’ll never walk alone, is what differentiate Liverpool supporters from others. It unites us all, forming a special family. No matter who you are, where you are from, or what you believe in, this Liverpool family will accept you with open arms. Liverpool fans are recognized worldwide for their amazing support, and sense of unity. It can cause magical things to happen during matches, the prime example being the 2005 Champions League final in Istanbul. It was a miraculous win over AC Milan, which Steven Gerrard has attributed the fans for. Liverpool supporters work to create a family environment for our players, and fellow fans.

Lately, however, supporters have been frustrated by the results that Liverpool has had both in the Champions League and the Premier League. At the moment, Liverpool’s record in the Premier League is 5-2-6. In the Champions League, Liverpool is currently third in the group and could only advance to the next round with a victory over Basel on December 9 at Anfield. Though Liverpool is currently struggling in all competitions, supporters must be there to be through the victories, defeats, and draws, always.

Social Media, particularly twitter, has been the place where all supporters have gone to vent, and talk badly about the club and it’s current dilemmas. It has gotten to a point where supporters have nothing positive to say about the club or its players. It is at this time that a certain quote from Bill Shankly must come to light, “If you can’t support us when we lose or draw, don’t support us when we win.” It is what separates Liverpool supports from others, especially Chelsea or Manchester City.

The fans were known as the twelfth man on the pitch during the Champions League final in 2005, everyone just how powerful Liverpool supports can be. It is crucial, primarily now, that supporters rise up and show Liverpool how influential and mighty their support can be.
