Southampton's Nathaniel Clyne's contract is set to expire at the end of next season and the club is getting worried about retaining the English right-back.
According to the reports, Manchester United and Liverpool are both interested in signing the England international. They could go ahead in January, but a move next summer seems more realistic.
United's defensive issues are well known to everyone while Liverpool are trying to replace Glen Johnson, who is yet to be offered a new deal.
Southampton are very keen to sing a long term deal with Clyne but they fear that the player might follow the likes of Calum Chambers, Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana who left St Mary for a bigger club.
The club sources told Goal.com that they are really worried about Nathaniel as some very big clubs are circling.
Now it is to be observed that if the above mentioned big clubs are able to persuade Southampton to sell one of their best performers in January or whether the saints will have to brace themselves for a fresh assault in the summer.
