Yaya Toure was the closest out of all the players to sign for the Gunners, he even played a friendly against Barnet in 2003 in a red and white shirt.
The midfielder was on trial and looked set to join his brother Kolo in north London but was not able to manage work permit.
Wenger said that not able to sign Yaya was at the top of his list of regrets. He also said that it was not because Arsenal did not want to sign him that he went to Ukraine. The club had to wait for his passport in Belgium and then he preferred to go to Metalurh Donetsk as could go there without any passport.
