Tottenham have sold Luka Modric and Gareth Bale for huge sums of money over the last few years, but have never managed to translate the money they received into success on the pitch.
Clearly something is wrong with their transfer policy. Technical Director Franco Baldini has been blamed over the last year, and it's safe to say he has overspent and brought in the wrong sort of player.
Erik Lamela, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Benjamin Stambouli, Federico Fazio, Ben Davies and Michel Vorm have all failed to impress this season - all players bought with the money recouped from big sales. If Tottenham ever want to overtake Arsenal and challenge for the top four, they need to start being smarter in the transfer market.
