Manchester City were thrashed 4-1 by Tottenham on Saturday as Pellegrini's men fell to a second consecutive defeat in the league.
Manchester City was without key players David Silva, Vincent Kompany and Joe Hart who all missed out through fitness issues. Although Silva's replacement De Bruyne played well and got himselves on the scoresheet, Otamendi and Caballero weren't impressive and City were outplayed by Tottenham.
City were not as bad as the scoreline suggests though, and a couple of Tottenhams's goals were a result of poor officiating from the referees. The first one, was an obvious offside decision on Kyle Walker but the linesman somehow missed it and the move ended with Tottenham scoring their first goal. Caballero's performance between the bars didn't help either and he was responsible for atleast a couple of goals that they conceded.
Pellegrini was still optimistic about the season after the match though saying that his team will be looking for a win in their next game.
City had started the season strongly with five wins in their first five games before an injury to David Silva derailed their start. A loss to Juventus in Champions league followed and then West Ham also beat City at the Etihad. City responded with a win over Sunderland in the League Cup but was dismantled by Tottenham this week.
When asked about City's early season form, Pellegrini said that this was a very tough league and that he never claimed that his side could go unbeaten. Pellegrini was concerned with the injuries in his team and said that it is sad that he couldn't play his first choice eleven in all the games.
Manchester City now play Monchengladbach away in the Champions league before welcoming Newcastle United in their next Premier league fixture.
