Klopp’s Liverpool crashed Manchester City’s chance to increase the lead at the top of the table by dethroning the Citizens 1-4 in Etihad stadium on Saturday. This was Manchester City’s third defeat of the campaign.

Coutinho and Firmino run riot for dominant Reds
Liverpool started the game with more pressing and eventually City's nervy defense handed Reds an early lead. In the 7th minute of the match, Coutinho robbed the possession from City full-back Sagna and played Firmino inside the box, his first-time cross was deflected by City defender Mangala past his own keeper and into the back of the net.

Liverpool was looking really good with their new pressing movement. City’s shaggy defense conceded another goal in the 23rd minute by losing the possession to Firmino, whose angled pass inside the penalty area was converted by his Brazilian counterpart Coutinho.

City’s inconsistent play and a weak midfield line cost them their chance to settle the game. In the 32nd minute, Firmino managed to score his first goal for his new team after teaming up with Coutinho inside the penalty area and increased Liverpool’s lead to three goals.

In the 44th minute, Sergio Aguero capitalized Liverpool’s defensive error and scored a brilliant goal from a long range effort and gave a ray of hope for the home fans. City failed to maintain the momentum and eventually couldn’t trouble Liverpool defense in the second half.

Joe Hart managed to scrap his team some pride by saving them from humiliation. But in the 81st minute, Skrtel blasted a half-volley past the keeper and wrapped things up for Liverpool.
