Manchester United sit fourth in the premier league table and can go on top if they beat Watford at Vicarage Road. Considering the fact that Watford last defeated United in 1986, the fixture should not have been one of great headache to Louis Van Gaal. However, the International Break has proved unlucky for LVG with some fresh injury news.
Watford:
Watford have one of the best defences in the league with just 12 goals conceded in as many matches. They do not have any fresh injury concerns. Considering that this is a match where they have nothing to lose and it is United visiting their home, the players would be definitely looking to impress.
With Ighalo in particular being impressive this season, Watford would certainly look to him for the goals. A Gomes howler proved fatal for them in the last game against Leicester and they would hope to not concede such goals against United.
Manchester United:
Two weeks ago, before the International Break, LVG would have not thought he would be faced with an issue where none of his top strikers would be available for the game against Watford. Rooney is sidelined due to illness and Martial picked up a knock in the friendly against England.
With Fellaini, his make shift striker also out, LVG would have to depend on Lingard, Wilson or Depay for the goals. Depay would certainly feel this is the perfect opportunity for him to impress, with the winger having to endure a really slow start to his united career.
The injury sustained to Carrick may not prove of huge significance with Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger to play in the double pivot. Darmian would look to be back in the starting line up having missed out due to suspension in the last game.
Watford Probable Starting 11:
Gomes, Nyom, Ake, Cathcart, Britos, Watson, Capoue, Deeney, Anya, Abdi, Ighalo
Manchester United Probable Starting 11:
De Gea, Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Rojo, Schneiderlin , Schweinsteiger, Mata, Herrera, Lingard, Depay
Predicted Score: Watford 1-1 Manchester United
