Pato to Liverpool in January?

Alexandre Pato, who was once a star in the reckoning, has faded away in the last few years. The Brazilian, who is nicknamed Pato Blanco (which means duck in English), first moved to Europe by signing for AC Milan at the tender age of 18. However, his time at Milan did not turn out the success many expected due to his problems with injuries and loss of form thereafter.

However, Pato is recently in the news again with Liverpool very much interested in signing the forward in the January transfer window. Pato has been on loan from Corinthians since the better part of the last two years at Sao Paulo. Few months back, Pato himself had admitted that he got a good offer from Manchester United in the summer transfer window during deadline day. However, he stated that he knew about the offer only after the deadline and hence the transfer did not work out.

But it seems the Brazilian has a way to get back into Europe through Liverpool, who are very strongly linked with the forward. Apart from Liverpool, there are rumors that Tottenham are also interested in the forward along with Arsenal wherein Wenger is in talks with former Arsenal midfielder Edu, who is the sporting director at Corinthians.

The Brazilian forward has 26 goals to his name this season and with the striker himself very much interested in coming back to Europe, his transfer to Liverpool can be a possibility. Liverpool on the other hand already have three specialist forwards in their squad. However, with Sturridge being in and out of the team with injuries, Benteke taking time to settle under Klopp and Origi still raw, the signing of Pato can add a different dimension to the front line.

However, it seems that Pato is on huge wages and for someone with a reputation of being injury prone; it may also seem to be a risky signing. Apart from that, there might also be certain work permit issues. However, if the form of the forward is similar to the one who scored one of the fastest goals in the Champions league, then Liverpool might just have a bargain.
