3. Cliff Bastin
Arsenal manager Herbert Chapman signed Cliff Bastin from Exeter City in 1929 when the English forward was just 17 years old. Bastin went on to play for Arsenal till 1947 and retired from the London club.
Bastin made 395 appearances for Arsenal and scored 156 goals for the club. He also has a stand named in his honour at St James Park, Exeter's home ground.
