Chelsea and Arsenal Transfers hit by declining oil prices

It is very well known that the decline in oil prices has rocked the global markets. However, it seems to be affecting the English football clubs as well. Apparently, Chelsea and Arsenal could be the worst hit by the huge decline in the current prices of oil.

Disaster for Chelsea and Arsenal as owners’ wealth drops by over £1 Billion
One of the key reasons for this is because of the presence of two rich Russian oil tycoons who are very much a part of the ownership of both these clubs. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has apparently lost around £570 million in the early part of 2016. The net worth of the Russian businessman is around £4 billion.

On the other hand, Alisher Usmanov, who is one of Arsenal's biggest shareholders, lost around £630 million in the same period. However, the recent happenings to the wealth of their influential shareholders could seem to be affecting the transfers of the clubs.

The names associated with both these clubs are very much on the increase in the current January transfer window but whether good amount of money would be spent on those players is still to be known.
