Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger has stated that they are in no rush to put ahead any new contract talks for Costa Rica Intenational Joel Campbell. At a time where the impressive performances of young Dele Alli on the other side of North London has earned him a new contract, the Gunners are taking their time to start contract talks for their own sensation, Campbell.
Campbell found it tough to get into the starting eleven at Arsenal which made him move to Olympiacos on loan last season. The forward showed good form during his time in Greece which persuaded Wenger to keep his this season. The decision has certainly proved right, with Campbell grabbing his chances with both hands with impressive performances.
It seemed that another injury crisis could affect the title chances of Arsenal but Campbell has certainly stepped up as a replacement for Sanchez. He may still not be an automatic choice for the club when all the players are fit, but he has certainly proved himself to be a handy backup. His performances have improved so much that Arsene Wenger has compared his rise to the rise of Coquelin last season.
However, Wenger has stated that the club will take their time in order to start negotiations for a new contract for the young striker. However, if Campbell is able to continue his form till the end of the season, it may be sooner rather than later that he would be awarded a new contract.
