When Victor Valdes signed for Manchester United on a free transfer, it was regarded as a great coup for the Red Devils and was expected to provide a good back up for De Gea. However, it has all gone downhill from that moment for the former Barcelona goalkeeper. He has hardly contributed to the fortunes of the first team after his move to the English giants.
Apart from not being allowed to train for the first team squad, Valdes does not even possess a squad number and was also uninvited for a dinner pertinent to charity in November. Valdes, a Champions League winner with Barcelona and in the 2010 world cup winning squad of Spain, wanted to experience a new challenge when he left Barcelona. Injuries had taken a toll on the former Barcelona goalkeeper which certainly prevented him to come back to his best.
There were reports that he had a fall out with Louis Van Gaal and he was not very happy with the Dutchman's tactics. However, his future at United virtually came to an end when Romero was preferred ahead of him at the start of this season since De Gea was not involved, due to his transfer saga with Madrid.
Now, LVG has spoken about him in a recent interview stating that the goalkeeper is free to go even on a free transfer if a club is ready to sign him. He also stated that it is up to the goalkeeper whether he wanted to leave the club or not.
