Premier League XI so far...

The Premier League is one of the most competitive leagues in the world. The 2015/16 season has been a surprising one. Champions Chelsea have been below par and they find themselves in a relegation battle.

Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy
Surprise package Leicester City under the tutelage of Claudio Ranieri have managed to achieve their ‘target’ of 40 points, playing some sparkling, high-pace football as they counter attack and score some quality goals. Talk of a title challenge would be a little farfetched but they have certainly been the team of the season and have lit up the season.

New boys Watford and Bournemouth have been inconsistent but managed to be very competitive. There is the resurgence in form of West Ham who have claimed some major scalps away from home while Crystal Palace have found themselves mixing it up with European contenders as Pardew could finally have found the formulae to crack Europe after years of trying. The exciting buzz Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur have managed to show with some of the youngest Premier League players available is the highlight of my season. Will Spurs finally crack the Champions League again?

Manchester City and Arsenal look like the only two real title contenders with the Gunners the stronger and more consistent of the two. Manchester United continue to plunder, showing a lack of creativity in the final third as they fluctuate between shades of quality, boring and very boring. Liverpool may have gained the Klopp factor, but the injuries have left the side in limbo, as they blow hot and cold. West Bromwich Albion have shown the Pulis fortitude but also countless lapses of concentration have derailed their charge.

Stoke City have shown sparks of brilliance as Sparky has transformed the club from a one trick pony to a multi-dimensional attacking threat alongside Everton. Aston Villa look doomed for the drop, Sunderland and Newcastle continue to highlight the death of football in the North East. Southampton are now truly down to earth as they join the company of new boys Norwich City who are amongst the new boy club that are fighting to survive. Swansea have lost their pizzazz and could find themselves relegated unless they find a formulae to rejig their ailing sterility in attack and failure to keep clean sheets. It has been an exciting league season and the loss of the always charismatic Jose Mourinho has left press conferences dull. Sports Rooter decided to pick the team of the season so far:

3-4-3
