Simeone to join Chelsea?

The rumors linking Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone to Chelsea have been doing the rounds since the departure of Jose Mourinho.

Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone has reportedly agreed a deal to take over at Chelsea next season.
In the last few months, the Argentine has always denied leaving his current club at the end of the season. However, there are recent reports stating the Atletico Madrid manager has told his club about the offer made to him by Chelsea and the fact that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Simeone was the initial favorite to join the Premier league champions with current Italy manager Antonio Conte, the other strong candidate for the post. However, there were reports that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was not happy with the style adopted by Simeone at the Vicente de Calderon.

However, the recent reports which state that the Argentine would be receiving an amount of around £9.2 million per year will certainly make him a huge favorite. The calibre of the 45 year old cannot be doubted with the manager having won five major trophies at the club including the Europa league and La Liga after taking over the job in 2011.

The fact that during that particular tenure, he also had to endure the losses of his key players to other clubs makes it even more remarkable.
