Teixeira signs for Jiangsu Suning

It seems that Shakhtar Donetsk striker Teixeira, a former Liverpool and Chelsea target, will now move to China after an agreement with Chinese club Jiangsu Suning.

Shakhtar Donetsk confirm Brazilian Teixeira heading to China after striking $56m deal.
This move would certainly cause ripples across the footballing world. One of the major reasons for this is that the Chinese Super league club has already broken its transfer record for the third time in the space of few days.

First, it was the £20 million signing of former Chelsea midfielder Ramires and then the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez for around £30 million.

The deal with respect to Teixeira is worth to be around £38 million. Jiangsu Suning is certainly on a spending spree and there is no doubt about that. However, the longevity of this particular desire to gain global recognition is yet to be seen.

Liverpool were very close to signing the Brazilian in the January transfer window but the move broke down since they were unable to meet the price demanded by the Ukrainian club.

However, this move of the 26 year old, who had earlier stated about his desire to play for the national team, is certainly surprising. The recent splurge by the Chinese club has caught the attention of managers like Arsene Wenger, who stated that it may be a cause for worry, if the Chinese clubs continue in this vein.

However, it probably seems that Jiangsu Suning would turn out to be a Anzhi Makhachkala or Monaco rather than a Manchester City or Chelsea.
